This volume kicks off with Rukia's execution being abruptly interrupted by Ichigo, a moment that I truly adored.

However, it also brings to the forefront a persistent complaint I have regarding this series. Despite being a substitute Soul Reaper, who has only received training on a few occasions and possesses latent Soul Reaper powers of his own, Ichigo somehow manages to halt a sword that wields the power equivalent to that of a million Zanpakutō.

While this should have been an epic and awe-inspiring feat, it didn't feel justified or earned in my opinion. The concept of Ichigo's heart bestowing upon him sufficient strength to defeat Captain class Soul Reapers multiple times is indeed charming.

Nevertheless, moments like this cause me to question certain writing and narrative decisions related to this character. I have a deep affection for the character of Ichigo; I simply desire that his powers and strength be more thoroughly explained and expanded upon in a manner that feels narratively legitimate.

Despite this gripe, I have a great fondness for this volume as it showcases the commencement of one of my most beloved fights in the series, namely Yoruichi vs. Soi Fon. I am captivated by their backstory and the intense rivalry between them, and I delight in observing how these characters interact with each other.

They are undoubtedly one of the most engaging dynamics in Bleach. Overall, I am highly impressed with how this volume portrays the intervention during Rukia's execution and how it seamlessly transitions into several distinct fight scenes as Renji comes to Rukia's aid and helps her escape.

This was truly great.

The way Ichigo interrupted the execution was incredibly cool. It was a moment that had me on the edge of my seat.

And then the end fight, it was simply amazing. The intensity, the skill, it was all there.
