This was my favorite childhood book, and it was also my mom's favorite when she was growing up.

For decades, it was out of print, and I was extremely thrilled when it was republished in 2001.

The woodcut images in the book are simply gorgeous. They are so vivid and detailed that they have been deeply engrained in my memory.

Rereading it as an adult, I find that the story is a bit predictable. However, it still manages to bring me a great deal of delight.

The simple yet charming plot, along with the beautiful illustrations, makes it a book that I will always cherish.

It reminds me of the happy times of my childhood and the special bond I share with my mom through this book.

Even though I have grown up and read many other books, this one will always hold a special place in my heart.

Every single night, we would eagerly look forward to diving into the pages of this wonderful book. The story was so captivating and engaging that it held our attention from beginning to end. We became completely immersed in the world that the author had created. And when the book finally came to an end, it felt like saying goodbye to dear friends. We were so reluctant to part with it that we immediately wanted to start reading it all over again. It was that good! This book will surely remain a cherished memory for us and we highly recommend it to all children and their parents.

This was read to me as a child. <3

It was a time when the world seemed so simple and full of wonder. The words would dance in my ears, painting vivid pictures in my imagination.

I would lie in bed, eyes closed, and let the story carry me away to far-off lands and exciting adventures.

Sometimes, it was a tale of magic and fairies, where anything was possible. Other times, it was a story of bravery and friendship, teaching me valuable lessons.

Those moments of being read to were precious, and they instilled in me a love for books and the power of storytelling.

Even now, as an adult, I can still remember the joy and excitement those stories brought.

They are a part of my childhood memories, and I will always cherish them.

I am grateful for the person who took the time to read to me, opening up a world of possibilities and fueling my creativity.

And I hope to pass on this love for reading to the next generation, so they too can experience the magic of stories.

I somehow ended up with this book on my shelf.

Perhaps it was from a little free library, a wonderful place where books are shared and passed along.

Anyhow, one day, I finally picked it up and began to read.

To my surprise, it was a delightful, old-fashioned fairy tale that took me on a magical journey.

The story was filled with enchanting characters and vivid descriptions of fantasy lands that came to life in my mind.

I found myself completely immersed in the world of the book, and I really enjoyed every moment of it.

As I read, I couldn't help but think of my own boys and how much they would love this story.

I can't wait to share it with them and watch their faces light up with excitement as they enter the magical world of the fairy tale.

This book has truly become a treasure on my shelf, and I know it will be a cherished story in our family for years to come.

One of my all-time favorite books! It is truly a masterpiece that weaves stories within stories and magic within magic.

I am extremely happy that I was recently given a copy of this wonderful book again. I first became acquainted with Tal in the third grade. At that time, a particular teacher would read a chapter of it to us every week.

Now, as I am approaching twenty-one years old, this book still holds a special place in my heart and on my bookshelf. It has accompanied me through the years, and its charm has never faded. The captivating tales and the enchanting magic within its pages continue to draw me in and inspire my imagination.

It is a book that I will cherish forever and recommend to anyone who loves a good story filled with mystery, adventure, and a touch of magic.

Yay!

Today is a wonderful day. The sun is shining brightly in the sky, and the birds are singing cheerfully.

I woke up feeling refreshed and full of energy. I decided to go for a walk in the park and enjoy the beautiful weather.

As I walked, I noticed the colorful flowers blooming everywhere. The grass was green and soft under my feet.

I took a deep breath of the fresh air and felt a sense of peace and happiness.

I sat down on a bench and watched the people passing by. Some were jogging, some were walking their dogs, and some were just enjoying the scenery.

I thought to myself how lucky I was to be able to experience such a beautiful day.

I decided to make the most of it and do something fun. Maybe I'll go to the beach or have a picnic with my friends.

Whatever I do, I know it's going to be a great day. Yay!

My first grader had a great time listening to it as a read aloud. However, I started to find it repetitive and tiresome from the middle.

There was a lack of variation. All the stories that Noom-zor-Noom told to Tal were fantastical, yet without any moral or grand design. They were simply stories that anyone could come up with by exploring random story lines.

The plot had no depth. After hundreds of pages of build-up, the ending was extremely unimpressive and abrupt. There was no character development or conflict.

But still, my first grader enjoyed it.

Some of the most memorable stories were: The Melikanoo, The Snow Queen and the donkey, and the Silversmith on the road to Troom.

Although I had my reservations about the book, it was nice to see that my child could find enjoyment in it. Maybe for a first grader, the simplicity and fantastical nature of the stories were enough to capture their imagination.

It made me realize that sometimes, as adults, we may look for more complex and meaningful elements in a book, but for a young child, the joy of a good story is often in the simplest of things.

4 1/2 stars.

I must say that I have discovered a truly remarkable book that is both wildly entertaining and highly creative.

Over the summer, I had the pleasure of reading some of its passages out loud to a group of 3 - 5 graders. To my delight, they were completely captivated by the story.

The vivid descriptions and engaging plot kept them on the edge of their seats, eagerly listening to every word.

However, the reason I didn't award it a full 5 stars is that I tend to reserve that highest rating for books that possess deeper meaning and significance.

This particular book leans more towards the realm of a fairy tale, and although it is a wonderful piece of creative storytelling, I didn't manage to discern much more profound meaning within its pages.

Nonetheless, it is still an excellent read that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an enjoyable and imaginative escape.

For 1928 SCI-Fi, I truly had a great time reading this.

Tal has to accompany Noom Zor Noom to his home. During the journey, he is obliged to listen to all the stories that the old wizard-like man has gathered from all corners of the world.

If he selects the "best one", then Tal will be capable of saving his friend's life.

I adored the fact that there were a large number of 10 - 15 page short stories throughout the book!

It would make an excellent read-aloud for a family or in a middle grade classroom.

Not only does it offer exciting science fiction elements, but also the opportunity for discussions and interpretations of the various stories.

The diverse range of tales keeps the reader engaged and entertained from start to finish.

It's a wonderful book that combines adventure, imagination, and the power of storytelling.

Whether you're a fan of science fiction or simply looking for an enjoyable read, 1928 SCI-Fi is definitely worth checking out.

This was an absolutely perfect read-aloud at bedtime book for my 5 and 10-year-olds.

Both of them were completely mesmerized from the very beginning.

I, too, couldn't wait to turn the page and get to the next chapter.

The stories in this book are intertwined with an epic journey, which makes it ideal to break into chunks at night.

Honestly, the worlds that the author envisions are not only delightful but also immensely appealing.

Even though you might suspect the ending early on in the book, it really doesn't matter because "getting there" is by far the best part.

I truly loved this book and it's definitely a keeper.

It's one that my boys will surely remember for a long time to come.

A friend's 10-year-old son recommended this book to me.

He said it was his favorite book and that he'd read it three times. In fact, he even lent me his copy, so sure was he that I would enjoy it. And he was absolutely right.

Tal is a wonderful fantasy. It's about an orphan who is whisked away from his tiny village by a strange man, Noom-Zor-Noom, and a talking donkey, Millitinkle.

During their journey, they encounter strange characters and witness fantastical landscapes. Noom also shares fairy tale-like stories with Tal.

The purpose of telling these fairy tales is that Noom must find a story that would please a child to open a magic door that is keeping the son of a faraway king captive.

Noom believes that if Tal can judge what the best story is, the magic door will be opened and the king's son will be returned to his parents.

Originally written in 1929, I initially feared that the story would feel dated. However, it read like a modern-day fantasy, captivating and engaging from start to finish.

I'm truly glad that my friend's son recommended this book to me. It's a hidden gem that I would highly recommend to others.

I haven't had story time with my kids in years.

However, we just completed reading this particular one together.

At the very beginning, when I proposed the idea of reading a bed-time story, they actually thought I had gone crazy.

But as we gradually approached the end of the story, they were pleading with me to continue reading.

It goes without saying that this was indeed a great story.

It brought back those precious memories of spending quality time with my children, sharing the joy and wonder of a good narrative.

I'm so glad we had this opportunity to bond over a story once again.

It makes me realize how important it is to take the time out of our busy lives and engage in these simple yet meaningful activities with our loved ones.

I'm looking forward to many more story times in the future.
