It was truly wonderful to encounter Tenar once more after all these long years. And Ged too. When the book first came out, I made an attempt to read it, but was rather put off by what had happened to the little girl. Sadly, it is now easier to read because it has become horribly familiar. We hear about such things all the time in our society.

I sincerely hope that I never cease to feel sickened and outraged by such atrocities, and never become resigned to the mindset of "that's just the way the world is."

I do believe that reading it now, at an age similar to Tenar's, being married with grown children, I have a better understanding of her than I would have had 20 years ago. The plight and invisibility of women once they pass the childbearing age is a harsh reality. There are certain expectations and limitations placed on women, and once they no longer fulfill those specific roles, they are often regarded as no longer useful.

Throughout the book, there is a powerful sense of outrage over the way the aged, women, children, "foreigners," and other helpless and unprotected individuals are treated and used. However, this outrage does not overshadow the story; instead, it naturally flows from the narrative.

I don't wish to disclose too much about the story as I think readers should be given the opportunity to discover it on their own. But I will definitely be re-reading it in the near future.

So far, among the Earthsea series, my favorite book has been "Tales from Earthsea". After reading it, I felt the same way for "Tehanu". In both books, the narration of the female stories and the fact that these two books have a unique mystery compared to other books, I think, attracted me. I believe that when this series ends, I will feel quite empty.

I really love the way the author portrays the female characters in these books. They are strong, independent, and have their own unique personalities and stories. Through their eyes, we can see a different side of the Earthsea world.

The mystery and magic in these books also add to their charm. The author creates a rich and detailed world full of strange creatures, powerful magic, and hidden secrets. Reading these books is like embarking on a magical adventure, where you never know what will happen next.

Overall, the Earthsea series is one of my favorite book series, and "Tales from Earthsea" and "Tehanu" are two of the best books in the series. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves fantasy and adventure.

Taking a break from writing a series and then starting again, it seems as if it has become even better. When we engage in a creative task like writing a series, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. The continuous flow of ideas and the pressure to maintain a certain quality can take a toll on our creativity. However, by taking a break, we give our minds a chance to rest and rejuvenate.

During this break, our subconscious mind continues to work on the story, making connections and generating new ideas. When we return to writing, we are often greeted with a fresh perspective and a newfound enthusiasm. The break allows us to step back and see the bigger picture, identify any flaws or areas that need improvement, and come up with more creative solutions.

In conclusion, taking a break from writing a series can be a beneficial strategy. It gives our minds the time and space they need to work their magic, resulting in a better and more engaging final product.
