There are various kinds of love - romantic, friendship, and family love being the most obvious. If I had ever considered categorizing God's love (aside from it being simply divine), I might have labeled it as family love. But isn't that limiting God's love? After all, Jesus calls us friends (as mentioned in John 15), so clearly there is friendship love involved. And a marriage is empty without romantic love, so when we are called to be the bride and Jesus the bridegroom, shouldn't that aspect be included as well?

I now regret taking so long to read this book, as it could have potentially helped me through difficult times by teaching me not to rely solely on others for my happiness and sense of self-worth but to leave that in the hands of God.

In 2010, upon rereading, while I still greatly appreciated the message, I wasn't as overwhelmed as I was on my first read. I had to downgrade my rating to 4 stars. I'm not certain what the difference is, but on this read, it became evident that Angela Thomas spends a significant amount of time on theory and very little on practical application.
