This is truly a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Just when you think you have it all figured out, something completely unexpected happens, leaving you shocked and eager to find out what will happen next.

The author has done an excellent job of creating a story that is both engaging and thrilling.

The characters are well-developed and the writing is top-notch.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery or thriller.

It's one of those books that you won't be able to put down until you've reached the very end.

Overall, I give this book a huge thumbs up and can't wait to see what the author comes up with next.

So you wanna read Splinter Cell, huh?? Well, sit back relax, stash gear for the next mission and prepare for an experience similar to the "Hurry up and wait" mantra that is so common in the world of espionage.

What can I say about the first Splinter Cell novel? It's realistic, not once did I get a sense of "high-speedness" (it does show up but, in sprinkles). The story itself is probably a bit less refined than what I believe exists in the games.

To elaborate more on the negatives, I will start out by saying that at the time this book was ghost written and developed by a lot of people. Raymond Benson is the actual writer behind the pen name David Michaels. The story is partially told in the first person, by Sam Fisher himself. The main character of said story and all video games in the existing continuity. Mr. Benson missed the mark, I think, on getting the voice of Sam Fisher right. The only way I would describe it is un-stoic (if that's even a word) and a lot of colorful expletives get thrown around. Now, don't get me wrong, I realize the realistic nature of how things are when people work in military or adjacent types of work where danger is a joke most of the time. But, Sam is not that guy. He has matured beyond that and can really find peace in stress inducing moments. Almost like a monk staring down the barrel of a gun and looking at the person with parental disdain. If he got angry or showed emotion in the games it was rare. Some would even say he's like the Chuck Norris of stealth action games. He can take down his enemies in a heartbeat while on vacation. He could kill or tame any threat on the battlefield by stabbing them to death or subduing them all while dishing out humorous taunts and roasts. And I got a full 9 or 10 percent of that here.

Anyway, the positives of this kind of story is that the action and development of plot are all gripping enough. It was good to see that there was a few pages describing Sam's rhythm of life outside of work and that was engaging. With all that said, I will give this a straight three stars because it's a turn your brain off kind of read. It's not a masterpiece, but it's not a total waste of time either. It's an okay read for fans of the Splinter Cell franchise who want to get a bit more backstory on Sam Fisher.

I like the concept presented in this work. However, I have to admit that 'The President's Man' movie starring Chuck Norris executed a similar idea in a more impressive way.

David Michaels' writing is not without merit. He has crafted a solid action novel that portrays Sam Fisher as an American equivalent of James Bond, albeit without the martinis, cigarettes, or an abundance of available women.

Come to think of it, perhaps I should have only given it three stars. ;)

Here comes a probable spoiler:

That being said, the story felt a bit bloated by approximately fifty pages. In my view, the subplot involving Sam's daughter could have been entirely removed without causing any detriment to the overall plot.

Nevertheless, it's still a worthy read. So, go ahead and find it, buy it, and read it!

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell offers an excellent blend of espionage, action, suspense, and intrigue. The story is filled with thrilling moments that keep you on the edge of your seat, constantly making you want more. It's a must-read for all Tom Clancy fans like myself.

The detailed descriptions of the missions and the advanced technology used by the protagonist add an extra layer of authenticity to the story. You can almost feel like you're right there with the character, sneaking around and carrying out top-secret operations.

The book also does a great job of developing the characters, making them relatable and engaging. You'll find yourself rooting for the protagonist and invested in his success. Overall, Splinter Cell is a captivating read that will satisfy any fan of the espionage and action genres.

Stick to the games.

This isn't just a story; it's blatant propaganda cleverly disguised as a novelization.

Here we have a book that exhibits an astonishing level of contempt for Middle Easterners and an almost excessive amount of awe for the US and Israeli militaries.

It's truly a wonder that George W. Bush doesn't stash it away among his collection of nudey mags.

The narrative simplifies the complex world into a binary of Arabs and Muslims being bad, and Israelis and Americans being good.

America is hailed as number one, but it's not even an entertaining puff piece.

How on earth can a so-called "thriller" be this dull?

It fails to engage the reader on any meaningful level, relying instead on tired stereotypes and one-sided portrayals.

It's a disappointment that such a work exists, masquerading as literature when it's really just a vehicle for a particular ideology.

One can only hope that readers will see through this charade and demand more from their books.

This book is quite fine and will indeed be highly enjoyable for the fans of the game series. It reads in a manner that is strikingly similar to playing one of the Splinter Cell games.

However, it should be noted that the writing appears to be a little immature at certain times. For instance, "Sometimes it got to be like that" is an actual quote regarding the NSA associates pulling all-nighters. The language, on occasion, was just rather awkward, and the same can be said about Sam Fisher's internal thoughts.

Overall, it was a relatively quick read and remained true to the Tom Clancy style of conflict set on the global stage. Despite its flaws, it still manages to capture the essence and excitement that fans of the Splinter Cell franchise have come to expect. It offers an engaging experience that allows readers to immerse themselves in the world of Sam Fisher and his high-stakes adventures.

Maybe because I am such a die-hard fan of the game, I absolutely adored the book.

I have to admit that playing the game is indeed great fun. However, reading the story that I usually overlook in the game is truly fascinating. This is because when I read it, all the gameplay and missions suddenly make so much more sense to me.

The plot was rather basic, but it provided a great deal of substance, which in turn made this book highly enjoyable. It narrates a world where these splinter cell operatives are summoned to defuse a serious situation. These operatives are regarded as the heroes that we rarely ever hear about.

I find it extremely interesting to see how this world functions, and that is precisely why I have a deep affection for this book. It offers a unique perspective and allows me to explore the game's universe in a whole new way.

The detailed descriptions and the engaging storyline draw me in and keep me hooked from start to finish. It's like uncovering a hidden treasure within the game that I never knew existed.

This book has truly enhanced my appreciation for the game and has given me a newfound respect for the developers who created this immersive world.

This book isn't changing the world,

but it's a good story and the plot doesn't drag.

The twists were a bit predictable.

However, that doesn't mean it's not an enjoyable read.

The characters are well-developed and the writing is engaging.

It's the kind of book that you can pick up and lose yourself in for a few hours.

While it may not have the depth and complexity to truly change the world,

it does offer a nice escape from reality.

Sometimes, that's all we need in a book.

It's a simple pleasure that can bring a smile to our faces and a bit of entertainment to our lives.

So, if you're looking for a good story that won't disappoint,

this book might be worth checking out.

This story is not bad. However, I do not like the location where it was developed.

All that area of Yugoslavia is not a very nice area. Additionally, those around there are not very nice either.

It is a pity. The author was a master in this kind of story, but something was missing. Maybe it was the charm of the setting or the connection between the characters and the place. Nevertheless, the story still has its merits. The plot is engaging and the characters are well-developed. It just lacks that certain something that would make it truly great.

Perhaps the author could have chosen a different location or added more details to make the area more appealing. Or maybe it was just a matter of personal preference. In any case, it is still a story worth reading and considering.

I have never played the video game. I do like Tom Clancy, but this writing is rather bad. It seems more like an ode to Clancy than a true book.

A splinter cell is an NSA super spy warrior who engages in a lot of sneaking, equipped with really advanced spy hardware. The plot is solid, but it is definitely video game-ish.

The best parts come from the usual attention to historical details, military technical knowledge, and fabulous locations such as Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Cyprus. I assume this is the ghost writer attempting to write in Tom Clancy's style.

Overall, while there are some redeeming qualities, the book fails to truly capture the essence of a great Tom Clancy novel. It feels more like a derivative work that doesn't quite measure up.

Perhaps if the author had focused more on developing the characters and creating a more engaging story, rather than simply trying to emulate Clancy's style, the book would have been more successful.
