Well, it was nothing really great. I didn't even manage to finish it. Somehow, I lost it along the way. Maybe it just wasn't engaging enough for me to go through the trouble of buying it again. There are so many other things out there that might catch my interest more. It's a bit of a disappointment, but that's life. Sometimes we try something and it doesn't quite work out. I guess I'll just have to keep looking for that next great thing that will truly capture my attention and keep me entertained from start to finish.
Splinter Cell Checkmate is a captivating prequel to the very first Splinter Cell game. It takes us on a thrilling journey with Sam Fisher and the NSA's elite Third Echelon. Their mission is of utmost importance as they strive to prevent a catastrophic war in the Middle East between Iran and the U.S. This conflict has the potential to bring doom to the entire world.
As a game novel, it has its merits. The writing is fairly good, and the characters are portrayed quite accurately in comparison to their pixelated versions in the game. However, there are some flaws. At times, the author makes mistakes. For instance, it is incorrect to state that the Islamic Republic of Iran's Air Force flies F-16s when in fact they fly F-14s. In a book bearing the Tom Clancy brand, such inaccuracies are unacceptable.
Nevertheless, if you have had a great time playing as Sam Fisher in the games, it might be worth giving this novel a try. It offers an opportunity to explore more about the character and his adventures in a different medium.
