On numerous occasions in the introduction, he draws a parallel between Joyce and God, and Ulysses to a gift bestowed by God.

This perspective significantly influences the remainder of the study, making it seem more like a defense of Joyce and Ulysses rather than an objective and in-depth analysis.

Nonetheless, it does offer some valuable insights into one possible approach for interpreting the impenetrable labyrinth that is Ulysses.

By likening Joyce to a divine figure and his work to a divine gift, Gilbert perhaps emphasizes the magnitude and significance of Joyce's contribution to literature.

Although his study may be somewhat skewed by his admiration for Joyce, it still provides a starting point for further exploration and understanding of this complex and challenging work.

It is almost impossible to read and truly understand and assimilate it, at least not within any time frame that is relevant to one or even two college semesters of required reading for an English major.

The text seems to be so complex and convoluted that it poses a great challenge to the reader.

Nevertheless, now that I think about it, I did have a certain fondness for Molly Bloom's chapter.

There was something about her character and the way her thoughts were presented that managed to capture my attention and interest.

It was as if that particular chapter provided a glimmer of light in the otherwise dense and impenetrable text.
