I have read both Eragon and Eldest previously. However, I decided to reread them in order to prepare for Brisingr, which is set to be released on Sept. 20. I have a deep affection for both of these books and I am extremely excited for the arrival of the next one in the series.

As a teacher, I have found great pleasure in introducing these books to my students. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and interest when they engage with the stories. My husband, too, has thoroughly enjoyed both Eragon and Eldest.

These books are truly a delight to read. They offer an immersive world filled with adventure, magic, and memorable characters. The storylines are captivating and keep the reader hooked from beginning to end. Whether you are a fan of fantasy or simply looking for an entertaining read, Eragon and Eldest are definitely worth checking out. I can't wait to see what Brisingr has in store for us.

These books were extremely entertaining

(once more, if you have a penchant for fantasy, dragons, and elves...). I was astonished by the amount of time it took me to read them. What I appreciate is that they truly depicted the entire process that he had to endure in order to become capable of fighting

(unlike other beloved works such as Narnia and Lord of the Rings, where the characters just suddenly possess the ability to defend themselves against highly skilled fighters). It was fascinating to follow the protagonist's journey of growth and development

, seeing how he overcame various challenges and obstacles to reach his full potential. The detailed descriptions of the training, the setbacks, and the ultimate triumphs made the story come alive

, and I found myself completely immersed in the world created by the author. Overall, these books were a great read

, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy adventure.

I read these wonderful stories with my son at bedtime when they were first released. It was such a special time for both of us. The moment we opened the book, we were transported into a magical world. My son's eyes would light up with excitement as I turned each page. We would laugh together at the funny parts and feel the emotions of the characters. These stories not only entertained us but also taught us valuable lessons. It was a great way to bond and create memories. We really, truly enjoyed them. It became a nightly routine that we both looked forward to. And even now, when I think back to those times, a smile spreads across my face.

I have read Eragon, and I have also seen the movie twice. I posted the reviews separately for each volume of the double edition. My long-ago opinion was 5*. I will continue with my exploration, not yet knowing if I have read Brisinger. The plot seems rather easy to predict. I think it might be more due to the overkill of clues rather than my memory.

The first and the second half of the second volume were the most exciting in terms of action. However, Eragon fades away when the focus shifts to the Eldest. I already like Paolini's style. With maturity, his work may improve even further.

The bonus on the double 1&2 edition is a 2-page handwritten manuscript by the author. It is a bit illegible, with many ellipses, which suggest that there might be changes made later. The minor strikeouts are mostly synonyms. The flourishes on the tails of the letter y seem indicative of imagination, if I were to credit graphology.

Overall, my experience with Eragon has been quite interesting, and I look forward to delving deeper into the series and seeing how it evolves.

If asked to place this book, I would say that it is a happy medium between the seriousness of the Lord of the Rings and the playfulness of the earlier Harry Potter books.

It was not until I read the books a second time that I discovered an interesting fact. Paolini wrote Eragon when he was just 15 years old and had achieved bestseller status by the time he was 19. I think this only adds to the allure of the books.

The plots of both of these books progress smoothly, with an abundance of action and character development. Although I did not watch the film, I have heard from many that those who are fond of the books were quite disappointed with its adaptation.

Either way, these are enjoyable reads. And like most book series, the second installment is a bit heavier and darker than the first. It keeps the readers engaged and eager to find out what happens next in the story.

Overall, these books offer a unique and captivating reading experience that is sure to appeal to fans of fantasy literature.

Good world building is an essential aspect of creating engaging and immersive fictional universes. It involves carefully crafting every detail, from the geography and climate to the culture and history of the world.

A well-built world feels alive and real, drawing readers or viewers in and making them eager to explore every nook and cranny. It allows for unique and interesting stories to be told, as the characters interact with and are shaped by their environment.

World building also requires a great deal of planning and thought. The author or creator must consider how all the different elements fit together and work in harmony. They must also be able to communicate this world effectively to the audience, through vivid descriptions, engaging dialogue, and well-developed characters.

In conclusion, good world building is a crucial part of creating a successful fictional work. It can transport the audience to another place and time, and leave a lasting impression long after they have finished experiencing it.

This book commences with a boy named Eragon.

One day, he discovers an egg that hatches into a Dragon, and he is suddenly drawn into an adventure that alters his life in an instant.

During this adventure, he encounters several people, such as Brom, a so-called merchant, and Murtagh, a mysterious warrior. Each of them has a past that is related to him.

With the help of his dragon Saphira, who is bonded to him in a certain way, he travels to the Vaden territory to seek shelter from the evil king of an empire.

Later, he discovers his true abilities in a battle to save the rebellion against the King.

This is a very imaginative story that seems to communicate with you in a certain way, like a teacher or guide about life. It is also extremely emotional in some parts, where some of the people closest to Eragon die.

This reminds me of what makes a good story; something that enables the reader to relate to or feel for. It also keeps you worried about Eragon because he is constantly accomplishing tasks that seem impossible and ends up being very lucky.

Overall, it is a captivating and engaging read that takes you on a thrilling journey through a magical world.

These are definitely solid fantasy genre reads.

However, they do have a certain predictability in both plot and character development.

Paolini, without a doubt, has a very bright future in the field of writing.

I firmly believe that his subsequent books will be even more powerful and engaging.

I am eagerly looking forward to the third book in this series as they remain highly intriguing and entertaining reads.

But one thing I would suggest is to not see the movie.

The movie might not do justice to the rich details and the immersive world that Paolini has created in his books.

It is always better to experience the story in its original written form to truly appreciate the author's vision and creativity.

So, if you are a fan of fantasy literature, give these books a try and wait patiently for the next installment.

You won't be disappointed.

I have an intense love for dragon tales!

And this young man has truly accomplished a remarkable feat.

These books are quite substantial in size, yet I find it extremely difficult to put them aside when I ought to be engaged in other activities.

His characters, despite existing in an alternate world, are highly believable individuals.

You either develop a deep affection for them or a strong aversion.

They possess flaws and idiosyncrasies just like real people, and in many respects, they are similar to the guys next door, albeit with major problems.

Even the dragons in these tales have wonderful personalities and a great sense of humor.

I'm truly glad that the author is young because that gives me hope that he will pen many more books for me to devour.

It's exciting to think about the potential adventures and stories that he has in store for us.

I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

Overall, this book was just okay.

The writing style, unfortunately, was a bit dull. It seemed to lack the spark and excitement that could have made the reading experience more engaging.

Another aspect that I found lacking was the pacing. It was too slow, which made it a bit of a struggle to stay interested at times. I would have liked to see a bit more world building to add depth and dimension to the story.

Furthermore, I didn't really like the cover. It didn't seem to capture the essence of the book or draw me in.

Finally, I think the characters needed to be more fleshed out. They felt a bit one-dimensional and could have benefited from more development and backstory.

All in all, while there were some aspects of the book that I liked, there were also several areas that needed improvement.

Unlike some individuals who vehemently asserted that Eragon was essentially Star Wars set in the times of LOTR, I simply didn't perceive it that way. Then again, I was never truly an ardent Star Wars enthusiast. I once attempted to read the novels but was bored to tears. Anyhow, I truly and deeply liked this book. Paolini has a rather good and fluid style of storytelling that is, for the most part, easy to understand. However, I must confess that there were parts in the book where the narrative became a little too verbose for my liking. This made it laborious to follow and had me longing for a quicker resolution. Overall, I found the story and the characters quite interesting. Therefore, I was able to appreciate and enjoy the novel.
