The human dimension of art also lies in the artist, and not simply in what he represents, although the represented object may present itself as the appropriate occasion for the most complete realization of his art. Schapiro is an excellent essayist. In a very, very short book, through just two texts, he analyzes and defends Mondrian's work in a very understandable language. I have a great desire to read his essays on impressionism (as far as I know, the style that he is most interested in and theoretically masters), but the Cosac edition is very expensive in second-hand bookstores and is already out of stock in bookstores. What a pity. It is truly a shame that the Cosac edition of Schapiro's essays on impressionism is so difficult to obtain. Given his reputation as an outstanding essayist and his deep understanding of various art styles, especially impressionism, one can only imagine the wealth of insights and interpretations that his essays on this topic would contain. Perhaps in the future, a more affordable and accessible edition will be released, allowing more people to have the opportunity to explore Schapiro's thoughts on impressionism and gain a deeper appreciation for this important art movement. Until then, we can only hope and wait.
