This is yet another installment in Ruth Heller's series of illustrated guides to the parts of the English speech, specifically crafted for young children. There are approximately 8 or 9 books in this series, each dedicated to a different part such as nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, interjections, pronouns, collective nouns, and more.

In every book of the series, Heller presents the topic with such clarity and excellence that everyone, whether adults or children, gains a solid understanding of the subject matter. Although I performed moderately well in English during grade school, junior high, and high school, there were numerous details regarding certain aspects of grammar that I never fully grasped. I truly wish Heller had written these books when I was younger.

The other astonishing and remarkable feature of this series of books is that Heller herself did all of the illustrations. I firmly believe that it is quite a rarity for an author to create an illustrated book and handle both the text and the illustrations. Heller's proficiency in the art of illustration is on par with her mastery of the English language.

If you have ever been, or perhaps still are, confused about any aspect of the parts of the English speech, I highly recommend taking a look at these books by Ruth Heller.

Excellent! This book educates readers on the numerous and diverse kinds of adjectives that exist and provides guidance on how to use them effectively. Kinley, upon reading the book, did recognize its value. However, it seems that approximately 70% of the content went over Kinley's head. This indicates that while the book has merit, it may be a bit too advanced for Kinley at the present time. Nevertheless, it holds great potential as it will likely be a much better fit for Kinley in a few years. As Kinley continues to grow and develop linguistically, the concepts and knowledge presented in the book will become more accessible and useful. It serves as a valuable resource that can enhance Kinley's understanding and command of the English language in the future.

I have a profound love for Ruth Heller's books. This particular one has been sitting on my To Read list for countless years. Just recently, I happened to discover a stack of her books in the elementary library.

Oh, what an absolute delight they all turned out to be! Her illustrations are so vibrant and captivating that they truly take your breath away. Paired with her witty rhymes, they serve as the best guides to understanding the Parts of Speech that one could ever hope for.

Now, it's important to note that it's not super easy. Grammar, which isn't really taught as comprehensively anymore, can be quite hard. However, for those who have a genuine desire to know the difference between, let's say, a predicate adjective and a demonstrative one, there is simply no better refresher than these wonderful books by Ruth Heller.

They make learning grammar not only educational but also an enjoyable and engaging experience. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to brush up on their grammar skills or simply explore the fascinating world of language.

This is an outstanding picture book about adjectives. Published in 1989, although it's not recent, adjectives have remained largely the same since then. The rhyming text is truly remarkable as it manages to convey a wealth of information. Both the meter and the rhymes flow very naturally, making it a pleasure to read aloud. All the adjectives in the book are capitalized and presented in a larger font size, which makes them stand out prominently from the rest of the text. This not only helps children easily identify the adjectives but also emphasizes their importance. Additionally, the book includes helpful visuals on comparatives and superlatives, as well as an introduction to irregular adjectives, further enhancing the learning experience.

The illustrations in this book are absolutely stunning. They bring the text to life and add another layer of depth to the learning process. The page layouts are also superb, carefully designed to engage children and make the book visually appealing. Overall, this is an excellent resource for children to learn grammar in a fun, non-threatening way. It is part of Ruth Heller's World of Language nonfiction picture book series, which focuses on the various parts of speech. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great way to teach children about adjectives.

This was truly one of my all-time favorite books during my childhood. Ruth Heller was a remarkable author who created these amazing educational books涵盖了grammar, science, and various aspects of learning. What made these books even more special was the fact that they were always accompanied by the most stunning illustrations. The vivid and poppy colors used in the illustrations always brought to my mind the works of Lisa Frank. It makes me wonder if it's possible to obtain prints of these beautiful illustrations somewhere. Oh, how I would love to have some of those "many luscious lollipops" adorning my wall!

I highly recommend this book to kids of all ages. I remember having a friend who was a high school teacher and she used this book as a valuable resource when teaching about irregular comparatives and superlatives, such as "good, better, best, etc." What sets this book apart is that it doesn't talk down to its audience. Instead, it presents the information in an engaging and accessible way, all while being complemented by the beautiful art. And let's not forget the rhyming! It adds an extra layer of fun to the learning experience. Without a doubt, this book deserves a full 5 stars.

I really liked the explanation of adjectives that was presented in this book. It was quite clear and easy to understand at first.

However, as I delved deeper into the text, it started to get really technical really fast. The author introduced complex concepts and rules that made my head spin.

To make matters worse, there was a creepy clown that kept popping up in the illustrations. It was really off-putting and made me feel a bit uneasy.

Despite these drawbacks, I still think the book has some value. The explanations of adjectives were useful, and I learned a lot from it. I just wish it hadn't gotten so technical so quickly, and that the creepy clown had been left out.

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning about adjectives, but I would also warn them about the technical aspects and the creepy clown.
