I had read "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" at least twice and a few snippets of her other works. But I desired the experience of reading all six of her memoirs consecutively. By the end, I found myself on the edge of my seat, completely engrossed in her reflections on how African American women have managed to ascend despite all the odds. Angelou undoubtedly rose to great heights - and sang about her journey with great passion and eloquence.
