I have a deep affection for the story of Atlanta. However, there is one specific ending that I truly despise. Unfortunately, this book did not disappoint in presenting that undesirable ending. Nevertheless, it can be easily forgiven as it was only two and a half pages long.

What I adored about this version was how Atlanta made it abundantly clear that women should be extremely cautious in the woods. This is because drunk, homicidal, rapist Centaurs are roaming freely.

Moreover, it was highly amusing when Meleager spontaneously combusted right before Atlanta's face. The dialogue between the deities was also absolutely captivating. It was fascinating to see how they would wager against each other.

Overall, despite the unappealing ending, the other aspects of the story in this book managed to keep my interest and make it an enjoyable read. 2_2

“Quiver” is a captivating retelling of the Greek legend of Atalanta, the fastest mortal in existence. By presenting the story from Atalanta's own point of view, the reader is granted a unique opportunity to delve deep into her inner world, understanding her thoughts, hopes, and emotions. This narrative approach creates a powerful bond between the reader and the protagonist. I found the book to be an engaging read, filled with suspenseful foreshadowing and rapid-paced action that kept me on the edge of my seat. However, I must admit that there were several parts of the story that left me feeling a bit dissatisfied. Despite this, I wholeheartedly recommend “Quiver” to all mythology enthusiasts, hoping that they will find joy and excitement in the wonderful tale of Atalanta. I can only express my regret that I was not completely enthralled by it.

Charming.

I feel as if there is truly nothing else that can so accurately encapsulate this book. It is truly remarkable how few books can be described with just one word in such an apt manner.

Really, I find myself reluctant to say much more as it almost seems insincere somehow. However, there is indeed more that I can expand upon.

For a year or two, I have been eager to read this book. It sounded like it was tailor-made for my interests. Finally, I managed to locate it in a local library. I was initially happy, but a little dismayed when I saw the font size in its skinny spine. I had imagined it to be a much longer work. But upon finishing it, I realized that its skinniness and the lettering only served to enhance its sweet charm. :P

The story is rich in plot and has simple descriptions. The book does not distort the myth of Alalanta but rather expands on it in a creative way that I thoroughly relished.

I felt a bit embarrassed to read a book that so blatantly proclaimed, "Yeah! Revival of the scared feminine!" Especially when reading the blurb. But again, even the slightest blush seemed to be in harmony with the book.

I also had a deep interest in it as a myth, simply because I have a fascination with classic linguistics. While reading, I was constantly drawing parallels between it and European fairy tales. The allegory is particularly interesting due to its relationship with the culture and history of man.

All things considered, I did take a couple of bongs hits before reading this book (and finished it in about 2 hours), which might have made it a little more enjoyable. But I still think it is sweet, interesting, and informative. I would love to obtain my own copy to have it fit neatly on my bookshelf somewhere.

This book, without a doubt, is very much in the same vein as The Great God Pan. It is a fictionalization of classic mythology that is well done to a certain extent. However, it somehow lacks the necessary depth and creativity to truly rise above its limitations.

These types of works do seem like effective means to introduce young readers to Greek myths. Nevertheless, their simplicity ultimately restricts the power they possess as literature.

This book is simply the myth of Atalanta told in a longer and more novel way.

To be honest, it is easy to read and everything is very well developed. However, I didn't like the ending... Although it's not the author's fault, but rather the gods and Greek mythology in general because everything always ends in tragedy.

The story of Atalanta is a fascinating one. She was a beautiful and athletic woman who was known for her speed and skill.

The book takes us through her adventures and challenges, as she faces off against various opponents and obstacles.

Overall, while I may not have liked the ending, I still found the book to be an enjoyable read. It offers a unique perspective on the myth of Atalanta and is sure to appeal to fans of Greek mythology.

I was truly anticipating this book to be significantly better. I mean, seriously, there are countless ways one could have made the story of Atalanta thrilling and enjoyable. However, no such luck. Stephanie Spinner unfortunately chose to completely ruin it by giving it a lackluster ending that left me extremely irritated.

It's such a disappointment because the potential was there. Atalanta's story is full of adventure and excitement, with her amazing running skills and her encounters with various challenges. But instead of capitalizing on that, Spinner took a wrong turn and delivered an ending that felt rushed and unfulfilling.

I had high hopes for this book, but now I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth. I really hope that in the future, authors will put more effort into creating satisfying endings that do justice to the wonderful stories they start.

Meh.

This is just a basic retelling of the story of Atalanta, and it really doesn't add a whole lot of depth to it.

I will admit that I did enjoy the banter between the gods. It added a bit of entertainment value to the overall narrative.

However, aside from that, it seems like Spinner didn't really bring anything new or unique to the story.

The retelling felt rather平淡 and didn't really engage me on a deeper level.

It's as if the author was just going through the motions and not really adding any of their own interpretations or insights.

Overall, while it wasn't a terrible read, it also wasn't anything特别值得推荐的 either.

There are definitely other retellings of this story out there that do a better job of bringing it to life and adding more depth and meaning.

If I had been a "tween" when coming across this book, there is a high likelihood that it would have swiftly ascended to the status of a cherished childhood favorite. When it was recommended to me on this particular site, my expectations were set quite high. I anticipated a narrative in the vein of Marion Zimmer Bradley or perhaps even a story penned by Neil Gaiman, one that delved deeply into the captivating myth of Atlanta.

That being said, it is indeed a remarkably easy read. In fact, I managed to complete it on the very day I borrowed it. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to kids, especially those girls and enthusiasts of mythology who fall within the age range of 10 - 14. It offers an engaging and accessible entry point into the world of ancient myths, with its simple language and straightforward plot.

Kids will be able to easily identify with the characters and their adventures, while also learning about the rich tapestry of mythology. It's a book that has the potential to spark their imagination and leave a lasting impression.

Atalanta is a famous figure in Greek mythology.

She was a beautiful and extremely fast athlete. According to the myth, Atalanta was abandoned by her father at birth because he desired a son. However, she was raised by wild animals and grew up to be a fierce and independent huntress.

One of the most interesting aspects of her story is the challenge she set for her suitors. She announced that she would only marry a man who could outrun her in a race. If a suitor lost the race, he would be killed.

Many brave and confident men came forward to accept the challenge, but none were able to defeat Atalanta. That is, until Hippomenes appeared. Hippomenes, with the help of the goddess Aphrodite, used three golden apples to distract Atalanta during the race. Each time she stopped to pick up an apple, Hippomenes gained a little more ground.

In the end, Hippomenes was able to outrun Atalanta and win her hand in marriage. Their story is a fascinating tale of love, competition, and the power of determination.

The book seemed very short to me. I think it could have been more extensive. Even so, I liked Atalanta. Although she wasn't a fully developed character, I believe she resembled those heroes that I so much wanted to emulate.

That's for sure, it really scared me how the gods handled everything as they pleased and people were nothing more than simple dolls.

Perhaps it's not the best book based on a Greek myth, but I consider it a good introduction for those who are looking to start in this world. It gives a glimpse into the complex and often mysterious world of Greek mythology, with its powerful gods and heroic figures.

Even though Atalanta's story might not be as detailed as some would like, it still manages to capture the essence of what it means to be a hero in that ancient context.

Overall, it's a book that can spark an interest in Greek mythology and encourage further exploration of this fascinating subject.

This book was, without a doubt, enjoyable to read.

However, there were certain parts of the story that didn't flow as smoothly as I would have preferred.

The aspect of Greek mythology within the book was executed really well. It added an interesting and captivating element to the narrative.

Nevertheless, if you don't have an affinity for Greek mythology or if you don't really know much about it, I wouldn't recommend that you read this particular book.

It might be a bit of a challenge to fully appreciate and understand the story without a basic knowledge of the relevant mythology.

Overall, while the book has its strengths, it also has some areas that could have been improved upon to enhance the reading experience.
