A very different book than the previous ones I've read by James Patterson.
Although the book is heavily focused on golf as a vehicle to tell the story, you don't need to be a golfer (I'm not) to enjoy it.
The story follows Travis, a man entering mid-life who has the perfect storm brewing. He's about to be let go from his job, his marriage is falling apart, and he misses Christmas Eve dinner with the family as he practices golf and finds the zone.
The story takes you through his entry into the senior golf tour, the lessons he's learned from his grandfather and from his caddy, and the lessons he's learned about life. If you don't like doing something (like his job), don't do it. Perhaps being downsized was the best thing that happened to him.
We all have choices to make, in marriage, in careers, and in what club to use for the next shot.
Not a riveting book, but one that held my attention as I wanted to know more about his relationship with his wife (an OB/GYN) and with his children.
And, yes, I wanted to know if he made it to the senior tour and how he managed to play along with some of the PGA's greatest golfers.
The Miracle on the 17th Green? Read the book and find out.
