I'm not a golfer, but the title of this piece truly intrigued me.

It turned out to be a quick and easy read, and Patterson's vivid and colorful writing style made it possible for a non-golfer like me to really understand and relate to Travis' challenges.

Travis is not only striving to establish his new career but also grappling with the difficult task of reconnecting with his family.

The story contains several touching moments that are relatable to everyone.

It's those moments that tug at your heartstrings and make you realize the universality of the human experience.

Overall, this is a well-written and engaging piece that is well-worth the read.

It offers a glimpse into the life of a character facing real-world problems and shows how he tries to overcome them.

Whether you're a golfer or not, you're sure to find something to enjoy and learn from this story.

Wealthy mid-90s Boomer in suburban Chicago,

finds himself in the throes of a mid-life crisis.

However, he manages to solve this dilemma in a rather unexpected way. With the assistance of his so-called “magical negro” caddie,

he embarks on a journey to become a professional golfer. Miraculously, he achieves great success and goes on to win the US Open at Pebble Beach,

defeating the legendary Jack Nicklaus in the process. With his newfound winnings,

he buys his wife a giant ring, which seemingly wins back her affection.

I am truly astounded that such a story could be published. It contains elements that are not only cliched but also potentially offensive. The use of the term “magical negro” is a harmful stereotype that has been widely criticized in literature and media. Additionally, the idea that a man can solve his marital problems simply by buying his wife an expensive gift is rather simplistic. Overall, this story leaves much to be desired and fails to offer any real depth or meaningful exploration of the themes it presents.

This is a very sweet story that truly showcases all the wonderful and beautiful things that golf can bring about mentally and emotionally for people.

Golf has this amazing ability to not only challenge us physically but also to soothe our minds and uplift our spirits. It can provide a sense of calm and focus in the midst of a busy and chaotic world.

However, what this story emphasizes even more importantly is the profound impact that family and loved ones can have on us. They are the ones who are there through thick and thin, supporting us, cheering us on, and loving us unconditionally.

Whether it's sharing a round of golf together or simply being there to listen and offer a shoulder to lean on, family and loved ones are the true treasures in our lives.

This story serves as a gentle reminder of the importance of both the game of golf and the people who matter most to us.

I read somewhere that you did not have to love, or even know much about, the game of golf to really enjoy this story.

WRONG! Despite growing up with a father who's mantra was "it never rains on the golf course", I know very little about the game. I am okay with that.

This book, however, did require some knowledge of the game beyond your typical surface knowledge. I do believe I would have enjoyed it more if I understood more about the way a golfer thinks.

Travis seems to be at the end of his rope - facing a failing marriage, losing touch with his children and being let go from his lifelong job. What is a man to do? What else - try to participate in one of the most recognized competitions in America. The PGA Seniors tour is no small competition, and quite the coup for the weekend golfer that Travis had now been for many years. I am not sure how chasing a dream and walking away from your family for potentially a year would be a good idea to anyone in his situation - but he went for it. And good for him.

The topic did not truly hold my attention, but overall the story was pretty good. Listening to it was easy, and unlike most audiobooks I did not find myself rewinding the bits I had not paid full attention to - however I did not once think of stopping before listening to the last track.

Finally, I must admit I prefer when Patterson writes on his own (which doesn't appear to happen too often) but I did think the collaboration of these two authors was done quite well. The story had its engaging moments, and while the golf aspect might have been a bit of a hurdle for me, it still managed to keep my interest to a certain extent. The character of Travis was relatable in his struggles and his determination to pursue something new in the face of adversity. The writing style was流畅 and easy to follow, making it a pleasant listen overall.

The first audiobook of the year has arrived, and I'm certain it won't be my last.

It's the first installment of the Travis McKinley story. What initially began as a tale of a man who was primed and ready to make it onto the senior tour, astonishingly transformed into a story of a man who had to fight tooth and nail to save his marriage.

Against all odds, with the help of a whopping $135k ring, he not only managed to salvage his relationship but also chipped in and achieved the remarkable feat of winning the U.S. open!

This journey of Travis McKinley is truly a captivating one, filled with unexpected twists and turns. It's a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next.

As I listened to this audiobook, I was completely engrossed in Travis's world, experiencing his joys and sorrows right along with him. #theroadtoIndy

The given information seems a bit unclear. It might be related to some kind of ratings or values assigned to you and your husband.

Perhaps it could be expanded as follows:

"The rating for me is 2.75, which might indicate a certain level of performance, quality, or some other aspect being evaluated.

On the other hand, for my husband, the rating is 4.5. This difference in ratings could potentially lead to various discussions and considerations.

It makes one wonder what factors contributed to these specific ratings and how they might impact our lives or a particular situation.

Maybe there are areas where I could improve to reach a higher rating like my husband's, or perhaps we need to analyze the significance of these ratings in a more comprehensive way."

Here is an expanded version of the fun story about golf:

One sunny day, I went to the golf course with my friends. We were all excited to play a round of golf and have some fun. As we started the game, I teed up my ball and took a swing. To my surprise, the ball went flying in a completely different direction than I intended. It landed in a nearby bush!

My friends couldn't stop laughing, but I was determined to get my ball back and continue the game. I carefully searched through the bush and finally found my ball. I took another swing, and this time, the ball landed on the fairway. I was so relieved!

As we continued playing, there were many more hilarious moments. One of my friends hit the ball so hard that it went over the fence and into a neighbor's yard. We had to go and ask for permission to retrieve the ball. Another friend's ball landed in a sand trap, and it took him several tries to get it out.

Despite all the mishaps, we had a great time playing golf that day. It was a fun and memorable experience that we will always remember.

Golf.

This book is filled with an abundance of golf-related content.

The story itself had its nice moments, yet it also felt somewhat lackluster.

When I initially picked up this book, I had the impression that golf would serve more as a background element. However, that was not the case.

For an individual who truly has a passion for the game of golf, I am certain that this book would prove to be a highly enjoyable read.

It would likely resonate with their love for the sport and provide them with an engaging experience.

But if you are not deeply invested in golf, meaning you don't have a strong interest or connection to the game, then you might want to carefully reconsider before delving into this book.

It may not hold the same level of appeal for you as it would for a golf enthusiast.

You might find that the extensive focus on golf detracts from your overall enjoyment of the story.

So, it's important to take your personal level of interest in golf into account when deciding whether or not to read this book.

Travis is completely disillusioned about life.

He has just lost a job that he never truly liked from the very beginning. The thought suddenly seizes him that he should pursue his dream.

What better time than the present? Of course, it seems rather impulsive to spend $3,000 on an entry fee when he is currently unemployed.

However, he does it anyway. There are only a few spots available on the PGA Senior Tour and the pressure is simply insane.

His marriage is in a state of shambles and his life appears to be falling apart. But still, he is determined to go for it.

When he finally manages to make it to the Senior Tour and ends up in Pebble Beach, he realizes that he is actually living his dream.

It's a moment of great achievement and fulfillment for him, despite all the hardships and challenges he has endured along the way.

We had just come back home from a truncated ski trip to Park City. To our great disappointment, both the slopes and the restaurants were closed. As a result, we were not in a good mood at all.

Thankfully, this book turned out to be exactly the tonic that I required. It was short and relatively uncomplicated, but it was a charming and uplifting story that managed to cheer me up.

The simple plot and the engaging characters in the book provided a welcome escape from our otherwise disappointing trip. It was like a warm hug on a cold day, bringing a smile to my face and a sense of comfort to my heart.

I'm really glad that I had this book with me during this time. It showed me that even in the midst of disappointment, there can still be little joys and pleasures that can make a big difference.

I have to admit that when I purchased this book 15 years ago, I didn't even glance at the blurb.

I was simply drawn to the prominent name on the cover, and the fact that it was only 3€ was an added bonus.

Now, after all these years, I finally got around to reading it - and to my surprise, it's all about golf! There's a lot of golf talk in here!

Even though I've never played the game myself and didn't understand a word of the golf lingo, I still found myself quite enjoying the book.

It was fascinating to see how Travis managed to turn his life around by becoming a professional on the Senior Tour.

I could easily envision this story being made into a movie. The way the tension builds up throughout the book, leading to the exciting finale, is just perfect for the big screen!

A quick search on Imdb confirmed my suspicions - there really is a movie based on this book! Although it's a TV movie and may not have made it to German television.

Overall, I'd give this book a solid 3,5 stars. It's an entertaining read, even if you're not a golf enthusiast.
