"Wow, I didn't expect that!"

After approximately six in a series, that's a rather nice reaction.

It shows a sense of surprise and perhaps a touch of excitement.

When something unexpected occurs, it can often bring a new perspective or add an element of interest to a situation.

In this case, the person's reaction indicates that they were caught off guard in a pleasant way.

It could be that they were anticipating a different outcome, but what actually happened was better than they had imagined.

This kind of reaction can also have a positive impact on the overall atmosphere or mood.

It might inspire others to look at things from a different angle or encourage them to embrace the unexpected.

Overall, a reaction like "Wow, I didn't expect that!" can be a wonderful thing, adding a bit of sparkle and spontaneity to our lives.

I guess reading these books now seems a little beneath the talented writers who are filling my bookshelf. James Patterson was a suitable introduction to reading many years ago, especially after watching "Kiss the Girls". "Cat and Mouse" was the very first novel I read.

I'm cleaning out my bookshelf, and there are several of these books that have been pushed aside, perhaps justifiably. James Patterson has rather clumsy exposition, and the twists mainly come from the soap opera style he has developed over time. The inclusion of Kyle Craig and the FBI killed the series for me all those years ago.

Alex Cross is a very good hero, and although he saves the day here, the book is extremely dull and uneventful. The case in this book is linked to the series, but it never creates a storyline worthy of its length. The short chapters may be punchy, but they don't help what is a forced storyline. I'm afraid that reading the series again would be disastrous for my reviews and my mind.

I can't recommend this book, and I'm really not fond of some of the books in my collection. I look at the Dan Brown books with a huge cringe.

I have always had a passion for traveling with Alex Cross on his adventures. It was truly wonderful to have Sampson by his side throughout the entire case. I am really intrigued by what the future has in store for Cross. I firmly believe that he is now in a better position to pursue future serial killers.

However, when it comes to the actual case, it was rather mediocre. There was a distinct lack of military understanding, and there were several loose ends that remained unresolved.

Despite having the potential to be highly exciting, it simply failed to generate enough enthusiasm.

For me, it rates only a 3-star. Nevertheless, I will definitely be back for more of Cross in the future.

One last thing, Nanna and the kids can NEVER die. Patterson, please don't ever do that! It would be a tragedy.

I look forward to seeing what other thrilling cases Cross will encounter and how he will overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
