I was recently engaged in a discussion with friends regarding the common perception that movies based on books are often a letdown.

However, I must clarify that this is not the case with "Kiss the Girls."

The movie was of Oscar-worthy caliber when compared to this abhorrent piece of garbage. How they managed to create a decent thriller out of this repulsive mess is truly beyond my comprehension.

After narrowly escaping from a serial killer who brutally raped her, all Kate can seem to think about is having a relationship with Alex Cross. Alex Cross, who also somewhat served as her doctor, essentially crosses the line himself. Apparently, Alex is just that irresistible. Ugh.

There is a complete lack of character development in this story. It is blatantly misogynistic. And I sincerely hope that I never have to read another book where a woman endures such a heinous act as being anally raped by a snake. It is simply revolting.

Just ick.

I have an unwavering love for James Patterson. His writing style is truly captivating, drawing me in from the very first page. The characters he creates are so vivid and real that they seem to jump off the pages and into my imagination. In fact, I am completely enamored with everything about his books.

This particular one was an absolute gem. It had me on the edge of my seat, constantly guessing and trying to figure out what was going to happen next. The plot twists and turns were so unexpected that I found myself completely absorbed in the story.

Until the very end, I was held in suspense, eagerly turning the pages to discover the final outcome. And when I finally reached the conclusion, I was left with a sense of satisfaction and admiration for Patterson's storytelling prowess. What a truly good book it was!

This book held a visual image that continues to haunt me both in my dreams and in my conscious daily life.

It has become so intense that I might have to abandon this series altogether. For me, it is just a touch too grisly. Once such terrifying images enter my mind, I find it impossible to eradicate them.

This is precisely why I deliberately refrain from reading any book that I suspect might contain such disturbing scenes.

On a few occasions, I felt that the editors had overlooked certain elements that didn't quite mesh well. I had to stop, reread, and then make a decision as to whether I could carry on.

Although I managed to continue, it was somewhat disruptive to my reading flow.

Nevertheless, I truly value the humor and the well-developed characters of Alex and Sampson.

I will give book #3 a try and then determine whether to continue with the series or not.

It's a tough call, but I'm willing to see where it takes me.

This was my very first foray into the captivating world of James Patterson's novels.

Right from the start, I found the story to be not only engrossing but also incredibly easy to read. The narrative flowed smoothly, pulling me in and making it impossible for me to put the book down.

I was completely hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to turn the pages to find out more about the fascinating character of Alex Cross.

His story was so compelling that I wanted to know every detail about his life, his cases, and his adventures.

I was left with a burning desire to read more of Patterson's works and explore the further exploits of Alex Cross.

This initial experience with Patterson's novels has truly opened my eyes to the wonderful world of his storytelling, and I can't wait to see what else he has in store for me.

This was my very first encounter with James Patterson's books. And by far, it has become my absolute favorite.

I embarked on this literary journey late one Friday night. The story was so captivating that I couldn't put it down. I was completely engrossed in the plot and the characters.

As the night wore on, I continued to read, eager to discover what would happen next. Before I knew it, it was the next night, and I finally reached the end.

The reason I was so determined to finish was that I wanted to see the movie tie-in. However, in my opinion, the movie paled in comparison to the book.

It's truly a pity that Patterson isn't writing books like "Kiss the Girls" these days. I really do miss his earlier work. His ability to craft such thrilling and engaging stories was truly remarkable.

I hope that one day, he will return to his roots and give us more of the same. Until then, I will continue to cherish the memories of reading this wonderful book.

Michael Kramer rasping out "tick cock" on the audiobook was truly something. It added a unique flavor to the experience. I am quite accustomed to him narrating the men of the Wheel of Time series, and it always brings a certain charm.

I wasn't a huge fan of Along Came a Spider, but I decided to give Kiss the Girls a shot anyways.

I am so glad I did! This book immediately drew me in from the very start. After what felt like an endless streak of dull and uninteresting books, I finally had a book that I simply did not want to put down.

It was extremely suspenseful, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout. The story was jam packed with action, which was just perfect for my taste.

I definitely did not see the ending coming, and that was truly fantastic. I absolutely love it when a book manages to catch me off guard and surprise me.

Kiss the Girls is a great read that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a thrilling and engaging mystery novel.

Second in the Alex Cross thriller series, this story revolves around a black psychologist-detective in Washington D.C.

My Take: I'm only up to page 7, and I'm already grossed out. How could people think like this? It's truly disgusting. And they actually think it's okay? He wants real romance, to fall in love and experience intimacy. But he thinks he can get it by kidnapping women and holding them prisoner? That's so creepy. Casanova has a wife, and he talks about loving her, but then compares her brown hair to that of his victims. Yuck. And his sexual delights, like the snake and milk? Disgusting.

Geez, I never thought of that glitch. If a woman chooses to go with him, he's done nothing wrong? Casanova's comment early on makes me shudder now that I've finished reading: "It was all her fault. He would have to change personas now. He needed to stop being Casanova. He needed to be 'himself'. His pitiful other self." I'm impressed with how Alex holds himself together. I would have gone down there screaming and wanting to hit someone. It's been four days since Scootchie went missing, and the cops are just now telling the family? On top of all the other things they haven't been doing?

And here we go again. The various agencies are keeping their information to themselves. God forbid they should share and get further in the investigation. Alex has hardly anything, but he's already ahead of most of the cops and FBI. So, do they bring him in and give him everything they have? *Snicker, snort, guffaw*...*maybe some rolling around on the floor*...*caught between laughing and crying*... What is with these people? Yeah, I know it's a book, but does this really not happen in real life?

Then there's that stupid reporter in LA. She's more concerned with her book than with helping the victims or the cops. I'm not sorry about what happens to her. Okay, I lie. I do feel bad, but I'm still not sorry. Stupid bint. The James Bond move was funny. Patterson's writing ticks me off. For the most part, it has good flow, but he tells me too many times that Nana Mama has to have the last word. The romance between Alex and Kate isn't believable; it just suddenly appears. It reminds me of Alex and Jezzie in Along Came a Spider.

Oh, please. Alex and Kate are jumping to conclusions from that poster about women and children. And Patterson is throwing in all sorts of extraneous stuff. I don't know if he's padding the story or what. What was the point of mentioning "No-Heart" Hart if he's not going to use it? Then there's Kate. How stupid can she be? Sure, she wants to be independent, but playing it safe until the jerk is caught isn't a stupid move. It doesn't mean she's not living. Patterson keeps giving out misleading information. He tells us the guy is Casanova, then no, he's not, he's a front, he's a... Fine, I can understand the drama and tension, but at least use words consistently.
