Thriller, mystery, and a real page turner!

This book truly captivated me, and I must say that I enjoyed it far more than the first one in this series.

Andrew Gross is an incredibly talented and popular fiction writer. He is the co-author with James Patterson for "2nd Chance".

I believe Patterson is the sole author of "The 1st to Die", which is the first book in the Women's Murder Club series. However, I didn't have the same level of enjoyment with that particular book.

Gross has a way of crafting stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, with unexpected twists and turns at every corner.

The characters in this book are well-developed and engaging, making it easy to become invested in their fates.

If you're a fan of thrilling mysteries, then I highly recommend giving this book a try.

You won't be disappointed!

UGHHHH.

Where do I even start? This is the second installment in this series by Patterson, and I'm truly dismayed to say that it will be my last.

I had precisely the same issue with this one as I did with the first. The fact is, women don't communicate in the same way as men. While some might, it's simply not the case that every single woman does. In this book, you could almost substitute a man's name for every female character, and then it might have been remotely believable.

The second problem that I just couldn't ignore is that all the characters seemed to sound exactly the same. They all, both men and women, spoke with an air of righteous indignation constantly. There was no diversity in the characters at all. They were all cut from the same cloth.

I'll stop here for now, but I could easily write much more about the numerous flaws I found in this book.

This is a decent mystery-thriller that has its moments. However, Patterson's writing lacks the necessary nuance, particularly for a detective story. The main characters are enjoyable, but I can't help but wonder if they could have more dedicated detective time. They seem to get together frequently, but it's not always clear if they are actually collaborating on the case. Additionally, there are too many "big" personal issues that arise in this book and remain unresolved.

Despite these flaws, I wouldn't be opposed to reading book three. There is still something about the story that keeps me engaged and curious to see what happens next. Maybe in the next installment, Patterson will address some of these concerns and deliver a more satisfying and tightly woven mystery.

I'm hoping for more in-depth character development and a more focused plot that allows the detectives to shine and solve the case in a more believable and exciting way. Only time will tell if book three will live up to my expectations.
