Wow, what a great debut novel for Alex Cross!

It is an interesting book, filled with intense action and mysteries that need to be solved at every step. It is easy for you to deduce certain mysteries, but it is even more pleasant when the solutions are proven to you.

I regret not starting the series with this volume, but I am satisfied with the story and the narrative thread that keeps you captivated, regardless of the chronological order of the books.

The Life of Alex Cross

Author/ James Patterson

Number of Pages/ 423

He is a federal agent who pursues criminals. She is a social worker who follows up on cases of abuse. They fall in love and have two children. Their love story ends with her being killed in his arms. He collapses for a period and wonders... who killed his wife? And why? After ten years, when he leaves his job at the FBI and becomes a psychiatrist, he enters the world of a crazy killer named "The Butcher". The story revolves around Cross, his friend, the mafia, and The Butcher. Three axes to determine who will be the winner among them? The story is engaging, and the plot is good. You don't feel bored when you read it. The language is easy, and the translation is good. The events are arranged in a successful order. One element was not explained in the story. Cross has a son and a daughter from his killed wife, and after years, he comes with another child, and we don't know if he is adopted or what? ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The top Mafia contract killer, known as The Sligo Butcher, Michael Sullivan, is now going renegade.

Everyone needs to be extremely cautious as he poses a significant threat.

Meanwhile, Alex Cross has other pressing matters on his plate. There is a serial rapist on the loose, and he is also revisiting the now cold-case of his murdered wife.

Alex is starting to believe that it might be time to prioritize his family and leave the FBI.

The international mega-best-selling franchise continues, but in my opinion, it seems to rely more on hype than actual substance.

I would rate it a 5 out of 12.

Perhaps the story could have been more engaging if there was more depth and less focus on simply creating excitement.

Nevertheless, fans of the series may still find some enjoyment in following the adventures of Alex Cross and the various challenges he faces.

However, for those looking for a truly satisfying and thought-provoking read, this installment might fall short.

It remains to be seen if future installments will be able to strike a better balance between entertainment and substance.

Agh, a butchered job, is there anything worse than that?

In this installment of the fabtastic Alex Cross series, Alex is confronted with an intense and fierce battle. This battle will truly put his moral compass to the test. The question lingers: Will Alex allow revenge to take over and win, or will his strong moral compass ultimately prevail?

To be honest, this particular book is not my absolute favorite read in the series. There are just all too many characters to keep tabs on, which can be a bit overwhelming at times. However, despite this minor drawback, it is still a great read. The story is engaging, filled with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat.

Overall, I would rate this book 4.5 stars. It has its flaws, but the strengths far outweigh them. If you're a fan of the Alex Cross series, you definitely won't want to miss this installment.
