The description of life in Chica during the time period in which the book is set (unfortunately, I can't recall exactly when it was, but it was quite some time ago) is indeed interesting. It provides a glimpse into a different era and a distinct way of life.

Perhaps if the story had been developed more deeply or if the characters had been more fully fleshed out, I would have been more engaged. As it stands, while the setting is captivating, the overall narrative lacks the hook that would make me eager to turn the page.
