Filled with genuine love for Utah's slickrock wilderness and concern over its future, this work is both captivating and complex. It is, however, somewhat esoteric and scattered in its presentation as a collection of pieces. The exploration delves far deeper into the weeds of spiritual landscape poetry than one might have initially expected. Informed by Williams' upbringing in a storied family of Mormon settlers, it brings a unique perspective to the table. The love for the land is palpable, as is the worry about its preservation. Each piece seems to tell a different part of the story, yet together they form a tapestry that is both beautiful and thought-provoking. While it may not be an easy read for everyone, those who are willing to invest the time and effort will be rewarded with a rich and immersive experience.
