I truly relished the details present in this book and the vivid descriptions that Natalie provided while penning it.

I firmly believe that it would serve as an excellent choice for a literature circle book. It is an outstanding story that has the power to foster creativity and imagination.

After concluding the book, I would be extremely eager to carry out a cross-curricular response activity. I think it would be fascinating to undertake a survey project.

As a math project, students would engage in brainstorming sessions to come up with ideas for topics on which they could survey people, all the while extracting details from the text to formulate a creative survey.

The students would be responsible for all the work involved in developing and conducting the survey. Once they have completed all the preparations, students could be assigned a character or role from the story.

They would have the opportunity to dress up as that particular individual, and we could utilize this as a chance to discuss the history of dress during that specific time period and how it has evolved over time.

In their character's attire, the students would traverse the school to gather the information for their survey. During their rounds in the school, the students could recite or read a passage (previously written about their characters' dress) to a teacher or faculty member.

This passage would elucidate the type of dress their character wore during that time period and the reasons behind it. Once all the information is amassed, students would compile all of it and generate results.

This would indeed be a project that supports the development of reading, writing, public speaking, math, and history.

I have always had a soft spot for The Search For Delicious ever since I was a child. Even as an adult, the story and its unexpected twist still manage to captivate me.

The premise of the book is truly unique and offers a humorous take on the folly of man when compared to the natural world. Babbitt does an excellent job of imbuing the natural world with a sense of mystery, making it all the more enchanting.

What I love most about this book is that it does what fantasy does best - it offers us a mirror to look at ourselves. In this case, we are contrasted with the extraordinary beings that have been around since "the oldest days". It makes us question our place in the world and our relationship with nature.

Overall, The Search For Delicious is a timeless classic that I would highly recommend to anyone, regardless of age. It is a book that will make you laugh, make you think, and leave you with a sense of wonder.

This is a truly charming and wonderful story.

I had the pleasure of reading it out loud to my family during a long car trip.

Everyone was completely engaged and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The story follows a young boy who is entrusted with a task by his King.

On his journey, he encounters magical beings and has to deal with unreasonable people.

There were many moments that had us all laughing out loud, and yet, there were also several touching scenes that tugged at our hearts.

Even after we finished reading it, the kids couldn't stop thinking about it.

They kept pondering over the various events and characters in the story.

It was truly a memorable experience for all of us, and this story will definitely be one that we will cherish and remember for a long time.

We listened to this book on tape during a family vacation.

It was relatively short, lasting less than 3 hours. What made it particularly engaging was the presence of a mystery that needed to be solved. This kept everyone on the lookout for clues throughout the story.

I also found the redeeming message quite appealing. The main character embarks on a sort of hero's journey across the country as he attempts to find the definition of the word "delicious." Along the way, he gets to know and develop a deep love for the people of the land.

This newfound connection compels him to take action and work towards protecting the people from a man who is hell-bent on leading the country into civil war.

In the end, through his efforts, the young man is able to establish unity among the people. And interestingly enough, by the conclusion of the story, even I found myself in agreement with the definition of "delicious" that emerged.

Overall, it was a captivating and thought-provoking listen that added an extra layer of enjoyment to our family vacation.

Not as good as Tuck Everlasting, but still worth reading.

The prime minister of a kingdom is engaged in the task of writing a dictionary. He specifically requires a definition for “delicious” in the context of food. To gather diverse perspectives, he dispatches a young boy to conduct a poll among everyone in the kingdom. However, the responses he receives are extremely varied. In fact, people are so passionate about their food preferences that they almost come to blows over them.

The story has a mermaid at its core, and there is also a magic whistle. Naturally, there is a villain who harbors the ambition of becoming king and doesn't care about the casualties in the process. Nevertheless, everything concludes neatly. Since I have a weakness for beautiful prose, this book left me longing for more. It had its own charm and unique elements that made it an enjoyable read, despite not reaching the same heights as Tuck Everlasting.

Overall, it offers an interesting exploration of food preferences, the power of ambition, and the presence of magical elements in a fictional kingdom.

It's been nearly 20 years since I delved into this book!

I vividly recall that one weekend. I was supposed to peruse the initial few chapters so that we could engage in a discussion about it in my third or fourth-grade class. However, instead of following the plan, I became completely engrossed and read the entire book in one go.

While not a great deal of the book's details have remained firmly in my memory, I do remember a particular character who seemed to go a bit berserk and started throwing nuts around. I'm not entirely sure if his name was Hemlock.

Most importantly, I remember the conclusion. It was what they all ultimately agreed upon as being truly delicious. It's a highly satisfying answer that I'm not going to reveal here. Over the years, I've often found myself reflecting on that conclusion, wondering about its significance and how it has continued to resonate with me.

Even after all this time, that book still holds a special place in my memory, and I'm curious to see if it would have the same impact on me if I were to read it again today.

Babbitt fell a bit short on this one.

The story was a bit too didactic. She seemed to be aiming for a fairy tale with a bit of humor, but in my opinion, the best she achieved was a moralist's fable with some tongue-in-cheek jokes for the parents reading it to their children.

The magic was underdeveloped for me. It isn't really clear what the role of the magical creatures in the world is. Ardis is in some sense responsible for water, but it isn't clear what her motivations or powers actually are, other than wanting her doll back.

The adventure, on the other hand, is pretty good. It's fast-paced and fun, and I like the idea of a world where they want to create the dictionary by analogy and need to take a poll to make sure that the word is defined according to the way people use it.

Conversely, I thought the actual explanation of the how and why was somewhat unclear for everyone except Hemlock. I also wanted to see more development of the relationships between Gaylen and the Prime Minister, as well as the various people he meets on his journey.

For the first time in a while, I think I've read a children's book that is significantly hurt on a really serious level by my not being a child. I think you need a certain lack of familiarity with more complex plots and characterization to really enjoy this book.

Perhaps if I were still a child, I would have been more able to overlook the flaws and simply enjoy the adventure and the humor. But as an adult, I found myself looking for more depth and substance in the story.

Overall, while there were some enjoyable aspects to the book, it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

Cheers to finding my first official "favorite book". It might very well still be, as it was the start of a long adventure of book reading. I still remember reading this the first time back in 4th grade.

That book truly opened up a whole new world for me. It was filled with captivating stories and vivid characters that seemed to come alive on the pages. Every time I picked it up, I was transported to a different place and time.

Now to figure out that other favorite book from elementary school, with the doll ladies that lived in the attic. I can't quite recall the exact details, but I remember being intrigued by the concept. The idea of these mysterious doll ladies hiding away in the attic, with their own secrets and stories, was so fascinating.

I'm determined to find that book again and relive those memories. Maybe it'll be just as magical as it was all those years ago. Who knows what other wonderful books are waiting for me to discover on this journey of reading?
