I picked this up on a recent trip to Mississippi. It was truly a delight to be in Welty's company as she dealt with all kinds of questions.

Some of the questions were silly and even insulting, while others were insightful and illuminating. In every situation, she responded with grace and kindness.

I really enjoyed reading this compilation of interviews. However, I noticed that most of them were from the same period. As a result, there was some repetition in the interviews.

If the interviews had covered a wider spread of time, it would have made for a more engaging and compelling book. Nevertheless, it was still a great read and I learned a lot from Welty's words and perspectives.
