A Curtain of Green is probably my favorite short story collection. I firmly believe that Welty is a true Southern genius. Her works are filled with the unique charm and essence of the South. However, I found it rather challenging to fully enjoy this particular set of stories. Even after taking an extended break from reading it, I still had some difficulties. Maybe it was because the themes and styles were a bit too complex for me to grasp immediately. Or perhaps it was due to my own personal biases and expectations. Nevertheless, I am determined to give it another try and see if I can uncover the hidden gems within these pages. I know that with perseverance and an open mind, I will be able to appreciate the beauty and depth of Welty's writing.
