First of all, her books are not typically something I’d be into.

However, I really like Anne Lamott’s work.

Writing about faith, spirituality, and grace are not usually subjects that I even bother to read about.

But Anne Lamott has a unique way of writing. She approaches these topics in a real-world way that is accessible and not overly moralizing.

This truly showcases her talent as a writer.

She is not only funny but also heartfelt.

Moreover, she is aware of her privilege and yet still comes across as sincere.

Anyway, if any of this sounds interesting to you, I highly recommend checking her out.

You might be surprised by how much you enjoy her writing.

Give it a try and see for yourself.

I've read a significant portion of Anne Lamott's nonfiction works. As a result, when reading this particular book, it gave me the impression that she seemed to be retelling the same stories. However, Anne Lamott will forever remain one of my all-time favorite storytellers.

She possesses this unique writing and storytelling formula that is crafted with a harmonious blend of honesty, seriousness, sarcasm, and humor. Her works have a remarkable ability to make me realize that the realm of spirituality and Christianity is indeed serious, yet we also need to find the humor and laughter within it.

Reading her words is like embarking on a journey that not only educates but also entertains. It reminds me that even in the face of profound and weighty topics, there is always room for a smile and a lighthearted moment. Anne Lamott's writing is a testament to the power of using various literary devices to engage and captivate readers, and for that, I will always hold her in high regard.

Bleak [Eventually]

This particular piece was a rather bleak and melancholy read. At the outset, it showed some promise and began quite well. However, unfortunately, it took a rather sharp downward turn pretty quickly. Despite this, I still held the opinion that it was marginally better than some of her other books. Nevertheless, it simply wasn't the kind of writing that appealed to my personal taste. I would rate it a 2.6 out of 5. The story seemed to lack a certain spark or vitality that would have made it more engaging and enjoyable. The characters didn't quite come alive for me, and the plot felt a bit flat and uneventful at times. Overall, while it had its moments, it failed to truly capture my interest and leave a lasting impression.
