This is a good introduction to the basics of music theory.

However, the amount of material it covers is extremely vast. As a result, it lacks a very serious treatment of any particular aspect.

That being said, the text is written in a quite clear manner. It could potentially be an excellent starting point for those who wish to dive into concepts that could require many, many books to fully explore.

I also haven't attempted the ear training course. Nevertheless, the fact that the book includes this as a CD appears to be a useful addition.

It might provide valuable practical exercises to enhance one's musical perception and understanding.

Overall, despite its limitations in-depth coverage, this book can still serve as a valuable resource for beginners in music theory.

It offers a solid foundation and a starting point for further exploration and study.

With the inclusion of the ear training CD, it provides an additional dimension to the learning experience.

This book is truly an outstanding guide to music theory.

It is incredibly comprehensive, leaving no stone unturned in its exploration of the subject. What makes it even more remarkable is that it is written in a language that is clear, easy to follow, and understandable for readers of all levels.

The author has done an excellent job of covering all of the key concepts of music theory in a detailed and engaging manner.

Moreover, at the end of each chapter, there are useful exercises that provide extra practice with the principles of theory discussed in that chapter.

These exercises are designed to be worked out at the piano, but the theory they are based on is applicable to any instrument.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced musician, this book is sure to enhance your understanding and appreciation of music theory.

I was in the band during my junior high and high school years, and there were so many aspects of music that I simply never understood.

Keys, the circle of fifths, harmony, chords, and so on.

However, after reading this book, I find myself much richer in musical knowledge than before.

The author does an excellent job of explaining all of these concepts and more in a highly effective manner.

What's more, there is no snobbery against any genre of music.

The author presents the information in a way that is accessible and understandable to anyone with an interest in music, regardless of their preferred style or level of expertise.

This makes the book a valuable resource for both beginners and more advanced musicians alike.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of music theory and improve their musical skills.

This book is an excellent primer for me and my fellow complete idiots.

I initially bought and read it just for the sake of having some light-hearted funsies. However, to my surprise, it has had a profound impact on the way I listen to music.

Before reading this book, I would simply listen to music without much thought or analysis. But now, I find myself paying closer attention to the different elements of the music, such as the melody, harmony, rhythm, and lyrics.

I have also become more aware of the various musical styles and genres, and I am more open to exploring new and different types of music.

This book has truly opened my eyes and ears to the wonderful world of music, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about music or simply wants to enhance their listening experience.
