The second book in this potential trilogy seems to have a bit more of a shaggy feel compared to the first. But at the same time, does it also have a slightly more developed plot? It's hard to say for sure.

Everything about this story and Gerald Samper is a bit tipsy, as if it's all happening in a bit of a drunken haze. It keeps the reader on their toes, never quite sure what to expect next.

Perhaps that's the charm of Gerald Samper and his story. It's a wild ride that you can't help but enjoy, even if you're not entirely sure where it's going.

Samper is torn between publicly humiliating her or accepting a fortune to write her second book.

I read the first book in the series last year and enjoyed it a great deal. However, I thought this book was more consistent and funnier. In CWFB, the chapters alternated between Gerald and Marta's perspectives. Marta was so sympathetic, and Gerald was so ridiculously nasty that it was rewarding to see her escape from him at the end. Here, he is still extremely offensive but becomes a more believable character as we watch him struggle with his shortcomings and develop. As a result, it was all much funnier, especially his pursuit of the male enhancement medical regimen "ProWang Pow-R-Tabs".

In places that are absolutely hilarious and wickedly clever or even nasty, this book presented a challenge for me. The reason being that for the most part, nothing seems to happen. It's as if the plot is pent up, just waiting to burst. And then, in the last 25 pages, it all explodes. Suddenly, lots of things occur, and it's a whirlwind of action.

However, Gerry is an outstanding companion and narrator. He's like Bertie Wooster, but with a twist. If Bertie were gay (which is an interesting thought as he might have been), and also quite vicious towards most of his fellow men. On top of that, he has a gift for cooking atrocious food. It makes for a unique and entertaining character, one that keeps you engaged throughout the story, even during those slower parts when not much seems to be going on.

The combination of the slow build-up and the explosive ending, along with Gerry's interesting personality, makes this book a truly engaging read. It's not your typical story, but that's what makes it so special.

Good sequel but... does not stand alone!

Overall, this sequel offers a light-hearted and entertaining read that is sure to appeal to those who enjoy a bit of quirkiness in their literature.

"The human race made itself King of the Beasts until there were no beasts left in the kingdom. Then one day in a fit of boredom it fought itself to the death, and won."

That really hits the nail on the head! It's such a concise and powerful way to describe the course of human history. It makes you think about how we humans have dominated the world and sometimes engage in self-destruction. Overall, despite the lack of as many comical recipes, this part still has its own charm and thought-provoking moments.
