Although this book was slow in parts at the beginning, it gradually picked up momentum.

Once all the stories collided and began feeding off one another, the pace moved steadily towards a resolution. However, this resolution was satisfyingly incomplete, as the characters reconfigured and their narratives began new journeys.

I really liked that in many instances, "good" and "evil" were not entirely separated. The author incorporated the complexities of necessity and motivation into the hows and whys of each character's behavior. As a result, many questions did not have clear answers. Good behavior can sometimes be selfish, and bad behavior can be justifiable. In fact, true purity is almost impossible to achieve.

We compose our own stories based on our perceptions, beliefs, desires, resentments, and projections. Then, we try to fit the world and those we interact with into the framework we have designed. But there are always important pieces missing, and our interpretations of others' behavior can be not only inadequate but also completely wrong. It is extremely difficult to step out of the life we have created and admit the validity of another point of view.

Relationships require constant adjustment. We can never see all the threads that have been woven into another person's life, and we can barely keep track of our own. However, the wheel of life is always turning. There are numerous opportunities to try a different way if we are open to it when it presents itself.

"All Over Creation" is an outstanding book that I had the pleasure of reading for an English class back in 2009.

Even two years later, I can vividly recall most of the captivating plot and the memorable characters. This, to me, is a testament to the fact that it is truly a remarkable and unforgettable book.

The main character, Yummi, decides to return to North Idaho to look after her aging parents, despite the fact that they have been estranged for many years. Her homecoming brings to the surface a plethora of personal issues for Yummi. For instance, she reignites a romance with a teacher she had an affair with during her high school days. At that time, she was only 17 and he was around 25.

Moreover, Yummi reconnects with her childhood friend and also makes new friends within the "Seeds of Resistance", a group of passionate environmental activists who are vehemently protesting against genetically modified organisms/foods (GMOs).

One of my all-time favorite scenes in the book is when the "Seeds" stage a protest in a local grocery store. They dress up as cows and place scull and crossbones sticker labels on frozen vegetables. This book not only manages to be incredibly funny but also delves into real-world issues, making it a truly engaging and thought-provoking read.

This book was not without its flaws.

The plot seemed to be a bit disjointed at times, jumping from one event to another in a rather haphazard way.

Moreover, the tone had a touch of the polemical, which might have put off some readers.

However, it is important to note that Ruth Ozeki is an exceptionally brilliant writer.

She has an uncanny ability to capture the emotional essence of the story and make the readers truly feel what the characters are going through.

One aspect of the novel that I particularly liked was the relationship between Yumi and Cass.

It was the beating heart of the story, the part that held everything together and gave the novel its strength.

Their connection was complex, yet beautiful, and it added a layer of depth and authenticity to the overall narrative.

Despite its imperfections, this book is definitely worth reading for anyone who appreciates great writing and a story that can touch the heart.
