One of the great poets of the stage!

His plays are truly some of my absolute favorites from the 20th Century. There is something so captivating about the way he portrays relationships.

Even though his female characters are often pitiful, they are at least interesting. He has a unique ability to delve deep into the complexities of human connections, showing both the beautiful and the flawed aspects.

His works make you think and feel, and they have a lasting impact on the audience. Each play is like a journey into a different world, filled with emotions and stories that resonate long after the curtain falls.

Whether it's a tragic love story or a comical exploration of relationships, his plays always manage to touch the heart and leave a mark.

I have not read all the plays within this book since it was for a class.

However, I really enjoyed reading Williams' work.

These plays were part of his later works and were considered bad by a lot of critics at the time.

But in my opinion, there is an appeal to them in their surrealist presentation.

The surrealist elements add a unique charm and depth to the plays.

They make the stories more than just ordinary dramas.

They take the audience into a world of imagination and exploration.

Williams' use of language and imagery in these plays is also quite remarkable.

It helps to create a vivid and engaging atmosphere.

Although the plays may not have been well-received by the critics initially, I believe they have their own value and should not be overlooked.

They offer a different perspective and a new way of looking at things.

I am glad that I had the opportunity to read them and discover their appeal.

Just read them all.

This is a great way to experience the stories and characters. You can imagine the scenes and let your mind wander.

However, there is something even better. Go see them at the theatre.

When you watch a play live, you can feel the energy of the actors and the audience. The stage setting, the costumes, and the lighting all add to the magic.

You can see the expressions on the actors' faces and hear their voices up close. It's a completely different experience from reading a book.

Going to the theatre is a great way to spend an evening with friends or family. You can enjoy a show and then talk about it afterwards.

So, the next time you have the opportunity, go see a play at the theatre. You won't be disappointed.

I have a profound love for Tennessee Williams. His works are a captivating blend of lyricism and dark humor.

He has a remarkable ability to dissect his characters, revealing their innermost desires and the forces that either keep them trapped in depravity or offer them a glimmer of hope for freedom.

What I truly admire is how he masterfully balances the lightness of his prose with the weighty truths he uncovers.

Among his body of work, I do have a preference for and a stronger connection with his earlier works compared to his later ones.

Some of my absolute favorites from this collection include "Orpheus Descending," which is probably my all-time favorite.

"Suddenly Last Summer" is another gem that leaves a lasting impression.

"Night of the Iguana" is also a remarkable piece that showcases Williams' talent.

And let's not forget "Vieux Carre," which adds yet another dimension to his rich and diverse oeuvre.

These works are a testament to Tennessee Williams' genius and continue to resonate with audiences to this day.

Reading "Orpheus Descending" has been an interesting experience. The story unfolds with a certain charm that keeps the reader engaged. It delves into the complex emotions and relationships of the characters, painting a vivid picture of their lives. As I was reading, I couldn't help but think about "Suddenly Last Summer" as well. There seems to be some sort of connection or similarity between the two works, perhaps in the themes they explore or the way the characters are developed. It makes me wonder what other works might also have a similar allure or resonance. I find myself constantly on the lookout for new books that will capture my imagination in the same way. There's something truly magical about getting lost in a good story and being able to explore different worlds and perspectives.

Yes, I just read 13 TW plays in a row. The cumulative experience is truly greater than the sum of the individual parts.

Interestingly, there really is no "Streetcar" in this batch, but there are three plays that stand out as very good:
Suddenly, Last Summer - 4 stars. In my opinion, it's his most bizarre work, and the film adaptation is even better.

Night of the Iguana - also 4 stars. Once again, the film version is even more impressive.

Kingdom of Earth - 4 stars as well.

The rest of the plays have their own qualities:
Orpheus Descending, Milk Train, Mutilated, Out Cry, Vieux Carre - all rated 3 stars.

Sweet Bird, Period of Adjustment, Small Craft, Lovely Sunday - 2 stars each.

Eccentricities (a redo of Summer and Smoke) - unfortunately, still only 1 star.

This collection is a must-read for TW fans. Each play has been reviewed separately, and together they offer a comprehensive look at the playwright's body of work.
