Prior to reading this, I had rather passively accepted the Church of Satan's (CoS) views on the Temple of Set (ToS). I thought that the ToS was just a pathetic and pandering spin-off of the Church. However, Webb's writings have truly helped to clarify a great deal for me. What I have discovered is that this is actually solid philosophy that functions as a think tank for progress. It is not the common back-patting rhetoric that I have become numb to in traditional Left-Hand Path (LHP) works. This is indeed solid and worthy reading. I am now looking forward to delving even deeper into this particular corner of the Left Hand. It has opened up a new perspective for me and has made me realize that there is much more to explore and understand within the realm of the LHP. I am excited to see where this journey will take me and what further insights I will gain.

Although it may not possess the same level of intensity or value as Aquino's works, Webb offers a useful and clear perspective into the Temple. It provides a good understanding for those who are contemplating an application. This book presents a rather mixed picture, yet it ultimately managed to win me over, for the most part.

It serves as a record of the internal messages that Webb shared with the Temple of Set during the initial couple of years of his High Priesthood, around 1996 - 1998, through the Temple's internal newsletter, The Scroll of Set.

However, it doesn't offer much in-depth understanding of the actual internal politics or gossip within that organization, as those sections have been redacted and most names reduced to a title and a single letter. Instead, it focuses on the spiritual teachings of its leader at that time.

Consequently, a certain degree of background knowledge regarding the spiritual stance of the organization is necessary, which Webb provides in an extensive section at the beginning, accounting for more than one-third of the book.

Regrettably, there was a serious issue in the production of this first section. I suspect Webb was late in submitting it, leaving insufficient time for post-production.

Whatever the case may be, it is among the worst copy-edited materials I have ever encountered in print. Webb's dyslexia doesn't help matters, but even a highly precise writer would require more copy editing than this received.

The first time I attempted to read it, shortly after its release, I had to put it aside with tears in my eyes as I found it literally unreadable.

I'm perhaps more挑剔 than most people, especially those accustomed to reading the instantly-published writing found on the Internet. But be forewarned: there is more than one error per page, even more than one per paragraph, throughout this section of the book.

Thankfully, if you spend half an hour exploring the Temple's website at www.xeper.org, you can skip this section and move on.

The second section was presumably available earlier, having been published before and benefiting from the copy editing done by the newsletter's editor at an earlier time.

As a result, it is much easier on the eyes. And these are truly the "mysteries" boasted about in the title.

This material was written for insiders already engaged with the methods taught by the Temple and does provide outsiders with an understanding of how these ideas were implemented at that time.

I also believe it offers some insights into why the period when Webb was High Priest is now looked back on with much nostalgia.

He has a friendly and accessible style, and while attempting to convey wisdom, he never comes across as overbearing or gives the impression of thinking himself superior to his audience.

The practices and exercises he suggests can be尝试 at various levels, adjusted according to different lifestyles and levels of interest.

Even someone who has engaged in a significant amount of this kind of work may find opportunities to reflect on themselves and become more aware for a while.

Therefore, despite its deficiencies, I would argue that this book still makes a worthwhile contribution to the literature of occult spirituality.

“Totalmente recomendable para aquellos interesados en el tema” can be translated to “Totally recommendable for those interested in the topic”. This statement implies that there is something, perhaps a book, a course, a lecture, or any other resource related to a particular subject, that is highly worthy of being recommended to individuals who have an interest in that specific topic. It suggests that this resource offers valuable information, insights, or experiences that can enhance the knowledge and understanding of those who engage with it. For those who are passionate about a particular area of study or field, finding such a recommendable resource can be extremely beneficial. It can provide them with new perspectives, expand their knowledge base, and inspire further exploration and learning. Whether it is for academic purposes, personal growth, or professional development, a resource that is “totalmente recomendable” is definitely worth considering.

Another slightly entertaining book from Don Webb.

As a phenomena, the Temple of Set truly interests me. It presents a unique aspect that catches my attention.

As a LeVeyan Satanist, it also has a certain element that humors me.

However, I find it quite astonishing how one can go about writing a book on the supposedly original antinomian figure: Set, while completely ignoring any reputable historical or cultural work on Egypt.

Apparently, if one follows the exact approach of the Temple of Set, and charges people a little less than $100 per year, they can achieve a certain level of success.

This book is really only suitable for those who are interested in the occult as a sociological phenomena.

If you are in search of true Satanism, it is advisable to look towards the Church of Satan.

Anton LaVey and Peter Gilmore are the only individuals currently writing (or, in the case of the first high priest, wrote) about Satanism who actually matter. Their works and perspectives carry significant weight in the realm of Satanism.

I have a very nice little book that was written by a former High Priest of the Temple of Set. So, it is quite safe to say that he really knows what he is talking about.

The work is divided into two parts, and each part caters to different readers. Although an Adept can surely enjoy both parts.

The first part is essentially an introduction to the Left Hand Path school of thought. It is primarily useful for a Neophyte. It also serves as a primer on a theistic approach to the LHP, as opposed to the more materialistic slant that is propagated by some.

The second part consists of a series of essays that were originally written for Temple publications and are now available to the public. The quality here varies, but all of them are valuable and could potentially act as a catalyst for some interesting interchanges in a discussion group.

Good luck in finding a copy that isn't overpriced. However, I truly believe that it is a worthwhile addition to any occult library.
