I found myself completely immersed in the world created within the pages of this book.

Each character has their own distinct personality and backstory, which adds depth and complexity to the narrative.

The plot is filled with twists and turns that keep me on the edge of my seat, eager to find out what will happen next.

Overall, "A Fine and Private Place" has been a great read, and I look forward to exploring more of the author's works in the future.

Another one from the stash of my childhood.

This one was truly a surprise. The fantasy aspect wasn't entirely unexpected, but my absolute favorite story was "A Fine and Private Place" which was about some of the residents of a cemetery in NYC.

I really relished the writing style. It was so engaging and captivating. And as always, I am continuously amazed by the diverse range of things that turn up in my dad's collection!

The opening short story was about a werewolf! I never in a million years expected that. It really set the tone for the rest of the collection and made me eager to explore each and every story within it.

These childhood treasures always bring back a flood of memories and remind me of the wonderful times I spent delving into the world of books.

This book is truly awesome!!

It grabs your attention from the very first page and doesn't let go until the very end. The story is engaging, filled with exciting plot twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat.

The characters are well-developed and relatable, making you feel as if you are a part of their world. You can't help but root for them and become invested in their journey.

The writing style is流畅 and easy to follow, yet still manages to convey deep emotions and complex ideas. It's a book that you can read again and again, and each time you'll discover something new and wonderful.

Overall, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good story. It's a masterpiece that will leave you with a lasting impression and a desire for more.

The story titled "Come Lady Death" is truly an interesting one. It is beautifully written, which makes it a pleasure to read. However, it is extremely short, and that's a bit of a disappointment. I really wish it had been longer so that I could have delved deeper into the plot and the characters. I read this story in December 2012, and it's quite possible that this is the shortest review I have ever written. Despite its brevity, the story managed to capture my attention and leave a lasting impression. The imagery and the language used were quite powerful. Overall, it's a good read, but I can't help but feel that it could have been so much more if it had been expanded. Final rating: 3/5 stars

I read the print of Kabalcı Publications. The book contains 4 stories: The She-Wolf Lila, The Last Unicorn, Please, Lady Death, and A Nice and Special Place. I was able to finish the first three, and my favorite was Please, Lady Death. Unfortunately, A Nice and Special Place didn't click with me. I couldn't get into it, understand it, and it left me cold. Lila's story is about women who are a bit different in life and their inability to be accepted. Beagle's most famous story, The Last Unicorn, was a complete disappointment.

I found Beagle's writing style to be far from clear and filled with unnecessary details. I think everything he was trying to say got lost among these unnecessary and not very elegant details. I didn't like it.

This story was truly formative for me. It's rather hard to precisely state what I gleaned from it, but it has firmly lodged within me, etched deeply. I first read it when I was around 10 years old. It was likely the very first thing I read that took a concept and made it palpable,赋予它情感和合理性——死亡,具象化且鲜明地呈现为女性。这一切都在标题中有所体现。

The story is not only simple and elegant but also classically structured. The characters are familiar and archetypal, yet by no means worn out.

It's Beagle doing an outstanding job of being himself, although I can't recall anything else he wrote that was quite like this.

Primarily, I remember the emotional response it elicited from me – excitement, suspense, and curiosity. It was a story that I felt as if I already knew, or ought to have known.

It has withstood the test of time remarkably well and fares splendidly when compared to other similar works.

I'm rather biased.

I love practically everything written by this man.

His works have a certain charm and appeal that just draw me in.

Whether it's his novels, short stories, or essays, I find myself completely engrossed.

So, any review I give of any of his works should be taken with a rather large grain of salt.

I may be overly enthusiastic and overlook some of the flaws or不足之处.

But that's just the way I am when it comes to his writing.

I can't help but be swept away by his words and the worlds he creates.

Maybe it's because his writing speaks to something deep within me.

Or perhaps it's just his unique style and voice.

Whatever the reason, I'm a devoted fan and will continue to read and enjoy his works for years to come.

So short yet so appealing - best thing that I've read recently!

This concise statement truly encapsulates the essence of a remarkable piece of writing. In just a few words, it manages to convey a sense of excitement and admiration.

The brevity of the description only serves to heighten its allure. It makes one wonder what exactly it is that was read that had such a profound impact.

Perhaps it was a short story that managed to tell a complete and engaging tale in a limited number of words. Or maybe it was a poem that captured a moment of beauty or a profound thought with great precision.

Whatever it was, it clearly left a lasting impression on the reader. It serves as a reminder that sometimes, the simplest things can have the greatest impact.

In a world where we are bombarded with information and constantly bombarded with long and complex texts, it is refreshing to come across something so short and yet so appealing.

It makes us stop and take notice, and reminds us of the power of words to move and inspire us.

There's a truly lovely story about Death going to a ball.

Death, often seen as a somber and feared figure, decided to step out of its usual realm and attend a grand ball.

As Death arrived at the ball, the atmosphere changed. People were initially shocked and a bit scared to see Death among them.

However, Death proved to be quite the unexpected guest. It danced gracefully, moving to the rhythm of the music with a certain elegance.

The other guests gradually began to relax and even enjoy Death's presence.

They realized that Death, too, had a side that they had never seen before.

The ball became a memorable event, not just because of the beautiful music and dancing, but also because of the unexpected appearance of Death.

This story reminds us that sometimes, the things we fear the most may have a hidden charm or beauty that we never anticipated.

It makes us look at the world and its inhabitants in a new and different light.

In any anthology of Beagle's work, there are bound to be repeats. This is an inevitable aspect when compiling the works of a prolific author like Beagle.

All the stories collected in this book are of such a significant length and quality that they could easily be sold as separate books on their own. And indeed, they are, with the exception of Come, Lady Death.

So, in essence, that's what you've received within these 429 pages. It's a compilation of some of Beagle's finest works.

And it's totally worth it. Beagle's storytelling in this anthology is at its best and most concise. He has the ability to draw the reader in and tell a captivating story in a relatively short space.

The characters are well-developed, the plots are engaging, and the writing is beautiful. Whether you're a long-time fan of Beagle or new to his work, this anthology is sure to delight and entertain.

It's a must-have for any lover of literature and a great addition to any bookshelf.

Peter S. Beagle is widely regarded as one of the most杰出的 fantasy authors of the twentieth century.

Together with Neil Gaiman, he can be considered as one of the few truly reliable magic realist authors in the English-speaking world.

This short story is truly captivating. It has a whimsical charm that draws the reader in from the very beginning. However, there is also a hint of threat lurking around the edges, adding an element of mystery and excitement.

My only gripe with this story is its brevity. It ends just as I was getting fully immersed in the world that Beagle has created. I would have eagerly devoured a full-length novel based on this story, as there is so much potential for further exploration and development of the characters and the plot.

Overall, this short story is a testament to Beagle's talent as a writer, and I look forward to reading more of his work in the future.
