I find myself so easily transported by Duras. Her words have a magical quality that draws me in and takes me to another world. Duras's writing is like a powerful current that sweeps me away, carrying me along on a journey of emotions and experiences.

When I read her works, I am completely immersed in the stories she tells. The characters come alive in my mind, their struggles and joys palpable. Duras has a unique ability to capture the essence of human relationships, the complexity of love and desire.

Her prose is spare yet evocative, filled with hidden meanings and subtleties. Each sentence seems to be carefully crafted, like a precious gem. I find myself rereading passages, savoring the words and trying to understand the deeper significance.

Duras's works have had a profound impact on me. They have made me think about life, love, and the human condition in ways I never thought possible. I am grateful for the opportunity to experience her writing and to be transported by her words.

Full of quiet longing, this statement evokes a sense of profound yearning that lies beneath the surface.

It's as if there is a hidden emotion, gently tugging at the heartstrings, waiting to be discovered.

And the mention of dialogue adds an element of mystery.

What kind of conversations might unfold within this context of quiet longing?

Perhaps it's a silent exchange of glances, a few words spoken softly, or a deeper exploration of feelings.

If you should come across Duras, I recommend 10:30 on a Summer Night.

This time and season combination creates a specific atmosphere, one that is warm, inviting, and perhaps a little bit dreamy.

It reminds me of The Sun Also Rises, a novel that captures the essence of a particular time and place.

Just as Hemingway's work transports readers to a world of lost souls and unfulfilled desires, Duras' writing might have a similar effect.

At 10:30 on a Summer Night, you might find yourself沉浸在 a story that is both beautiful and heartbreaking, filled with the kind of quiet longing that lingers long after the final page is turned.

I was reading on an airplane a couple of months ago. It's really hard to remember clearly now. The first story was pretty good, but the other three were much better. The second and third stories seemed to be based on similar concepts.

Once I started reading each one, I quickly got engrossed in it. I skipped the preface at first and then came back to read its write-ups on the stories after finishing each one.

It was an interesting reading experience. Although the details have faded a bit in my memory, I still remember the overall impression that these stories left on me.

I think it's important to take the time to read and explore different stories, as they can offer new perspectives and ideas.

Maybe I'll have to go back and read those stories again to fully appreciate them.

Marguerite Duras is best known as the screenwriter of "Hiroshima Mon Amour." Her novellas share a similar quality to that of a screenplay.

The characters in her works engage in endless conversations, often in a slightly detached manner. Pages pass by with alternating lines, lacking even the basic "he said" or "she said" annotations. This makes it easy for the reader to lose track of who is actually speaking.

All four stories in her collection focus on a small number of characters, typically between 2 and 4, within a limited time frame. This time frame can range from a couple of hours to a couple of weeks. During this period, something destabilizing and somewhat transformative occurs, usually involving themes of love and death.

Duras' writing style is unique and captivating, drawing the reader into the complex and often tumultuous lives of her characters. Her ability to create a sense of atmosphere and tension through her use of dialogue and description is truly remarkable.

Overall, her novellas offer a fascinating glimpse into the human psyche and the power of love and death to change our lives forever.

The Afternoon of Mr. Andesmas, in particular, was a truly brilliant experiment in the concept of space/time in literature. It is remarkable that this work was written before theoretical physics became more mainstream.

This piece of literature seems to explore the fluid nature of space and time, blurring the boundaries between the two. It challenges the traditional linear understanding of time and the fixed perception of space.

Perhaps the author was ahead of their time, intuitively grasping concepts that would later be explored in-depth by physicists. The Afternoon of Mr. Andesmas offers a unique perspective on the relationship between space and time, making it a fascinating and thought-provoking work.

Even today, as our understanding of theoretical physics continues to evolve, this literary experiment remains relevant and engaging. It serves as a reminder that literature has the power to explore and imagine ideas that may not yet have been fully understood or explored in the scientific realm.

I labeled this 'to read' rather than 'read' because it has been so long.

But the writing has stayed with me as especially sensual and immediate. It's like being there rather than just reading about it.

That was new to me, that sense of dispensing with the distant, story-telling narrator.

It felt as if the words were reaching out and touching me directly, bypassing the usual filters of a detached narrator.

The sensuality of the language made me feel as if I could smell, taste, and touch the scenes being described.

It was a truly immersive experience, one that I will not forget.

I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's work and seeing if they can continue to create such immediate and sensual writing.

Maybe this time, I'll actually mark it as 'read' instead of just 'to read'.
