It is of utmost importance to bear in mind the context within which this song was composed.

In those times, the vast majority of people entered into monogamous heterosexual marriages at a relatively young age. Any departure from this norm was met with severe punishment, namely stoning.

Christ supported this law, as he supported all of the laws. He was the embodiment and fulfillment of the law.

However, in our modern culture, the emphasis on fidelity is not the same. When applying this song to our current cultural context, it is essential to remember that in the Jewish culture, death was considered a preferable option to infidelity.

This difference in cultural attitudes towards fidelity highlights the need for a careful and nuanced understanding when interpreting and applying the message of the song in our own times.

We must take into account the historical and cultural background to truly appreciate the significance and implications of the song's themes.

Because the commentary itself is incredibly detailed,

I didn't feel the need to read every word. It was so comprehensive that it almost seemed overwhelming at times.

This will prove a useful resource for the future, as it contains a wealth of information and insights.

That being said, the introductory chapters were phenomenal. They were engaging and well-written, providing a solid foundation for understanding the rest of the commentary.

They helped provide clarity regarding a book of the Bible that has experienced a wide variety of interpretations. It was fascinating to see how different scholars have approached and understood the text over the years.

Even if I never read this book's comments on every verse, the material in the first half is something I will definitely reread. It was that good and that valuable to my understanding of the Bible.

This is a very useful review.

I have discovered that several volumes in this series are beneficial for in-depth Bible study.

The Song of Solomon, in my opinion, is one of the most challenging books to interpret. However, I have found this particular book to be extremely helpful, honest, and informative.

Of course, it is not strictly in the King James version. But if you can manage to work through that aspect, I believe his overall approach is excellent.

It provides valuable insights and perspectives that can enhance one's understanding of this complex and beautiful book of the Bible.

Whether you are a seasoned Bible scholar or a beginner, this book can offer something of great value.

It encourages further exploration and reflection, and can help to deepen one's appreciation for the rich and diverse teachings within the Bible.

Overall, I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in serious Bible study.

This is a really good little commentary on the Song.

It is not overly technical, which makes it accessible to a wide range of readers.

Instead, it introduces the reader to the various issues surrounding the Song in an engaging way.

It manages to engage with the text at a sufficient level, providing enough detail and analysis without overwhelming the reader.

In terms of depth, it lies somewhere between the works of Gledhill and Pope.

It offers a balanced view, presenting different perspectives and interpretations.

This makes it a valuable resource for those who are interested in learning more about the Song, whether they are students, scholars, or general readers.

Overall, this little commentary is a great example of how to present complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.

**Original Article**: This is a simple article. It needs to be rewritten and expanded.

**Expanded Article**: This is a rather simple article.

It appears to be lacking in detail and depth.

In order to make it more engaging and comprehensive, it requires a significant rewrite and expansion.

Perhaps we could add more specific examples, provide additional background information, or offer a more in-depth analysis of the topic.

By doing so, the article would become more valuable and interesting to the readers.

It is essential to ensure that the rewritten and expanded article maintains a clear and logical flow, allowing the readers to easily understand the main points being conveyed.

Overall, with careful consideration and effort, the article can be transformed into a more substantial and informative piece of writing.

This is an extremely solid commentary.

Song of Solomon (or, as I prefer to call it, Song of Songs) is that one book of the Bible which probably has more interpretative methods than the book of Revelation.

In his extensive introduction, Carr offers the best explanation as to why the correct, theological, and Biblical way to read and interpret the Song of Songs is to take it at face value. We should understand that this is a book about a man and a woman in love; it is a book that explores their relationship, encompassing their emotions as well as their physical sexuality.

When the church is afraid to discuss sex or relegates the topic of sex to the corner of the room along with other things we “should not talk about,” then the church does a great disservice to its people. God invented sex. It was His idea. Obviously, like any inventor, He knows how sex can best occur (as well as the incorrect, hurtful, harmful, and idolatrous ways to express sexuality).

Carr points out that since sexuality is so central and fundamental to being human, it makes perfect sense that at least one book of the Bible would be dedicated to the topic of sex. The Introduction alone is well worth the price of admission.

The main body of the commentary is dedicated to defining words and phrases throughout the Song of Songs. I found the commentary on each of these words and phrases to be useful, but the main strength of this book lies in its Introduction.
