Another fast-paced thriller dealing with the NSA from Dan Brown. I found this novel to be right on par with Digital Fortress and thought that it was a very well-written thriller. From start to finish Deception Point takes the ball and runs with it like any other Dan Brown thriller. I like that the plot moves around in scenery from the Arctic to Washington, DC and a few points in-between keeping the action flowing and the characters moving around instead of being static in one place. The characters are well written and believable and, in this book, Brown has written another very strong female lead character as he also did in Digital Fortress.

I don't know why these two novels didn't get the press that the Robert Langdon novels did, perhaps it's because they deal with the NSA instead of having a religious based theme that stirs up controversy. Whatever the reason, if you enjoy Dan Brown's Robert Langdon novels or are just a fan of a good thriller, I'd recommend giving Deception Point a chance.

worst book of 2015

I have officially read every Dan Brown book and I am begging for more. I did not find Deception Point as good as Dan Brown's other novels, but it was still an instant classic that kept me on my toes.

This novel was more of a political thriller, since it follows a secret NASA and the American Government have been hiding from the public. It was a well thought out plot with great character development, but I wanted more out of the novel. I wanted a little more suspense and thrills in this novel similar to Digital Fortress.

This novel had nothing wrong with it other than me being selfish and wanting more action and thrills. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a quick read with thrills and unexpected plot twists. A great novel!

I also want a sequel to this novel, since I want to see all the backlash that happens after the secret is discovered, and the continued building of relationships between some of the main characters. But alas, I doubt we will get one anytime soon from Dan Brown. I will hope though. There is a lot of potential for the characters in this book for further novels, and potentially discovering other secrets different Governments or agencies have hidden away from the public.

Four out of five stars, since I wanted more action and thrills.

رواية جميلة جداً وفكرتها مثيرة وفيها العديد من الأحداث الصادمة ولكنني لم أحب النهاية حيث بدت كنهاية العديد من القصص والأفلام الأمريكية، أقصد النهاية السعيدة والغير واقعية

ومع ذلك فهي رواية جميلة ومسلية ولن تكون الأخيرة لدان براون

The Deception Point gives you a sneak preview of the inner political workings at play in Washington, its clandestine organizations, their actions and ensuing political ramifications. Privatization of space travel - which is now a reality - plays an integral part of the plot and in doing so, gives us an idea of political perspectives towards this development.

I wonder how he could write such a minute level descriptions about all places. Really makes me go out there and see. And this time to the North Pole or Arctic ocean along with Washington D.C. Fast paced with lots of twists and turns and mind-boggling moments of uncertainty makes Dan Brown's books a must read.

Amerykańscy naukowcy odkrywają dziwny meteoryt. W jego wnętrzu znajduje się coś, co może zburzyć cały dotychczasowy porządek świata, a przy okazji umożliwić dotychczasowemu prezydentowi kolejną kadencję – jego przeciwnik jest bowiem bardzo negatywnie nastawiony do NASA, którą uważa za bezużyteczną i otwarcie o tym mówi. Gdyby teraz agencja odniosła spektakularny sukces, lud na pewno doceniłby wsparcie obecnego prezydenta dla badań NASA.

Walka o stołek prezydencki z dowodami na życie pozaziemskie w tle. Spisek, komandosi-mordercy, walka na śmierć i życie – cały Brown. Nie do końca moje klimaty, ale czyta się przyjemnie.

يبهرني دان براون كل مرة بغزارة معلوماته
وثقافته الشاملة في مجالات عديدة

وكل مرة يختار براون موضوعا لرواية من رواياته
تجده قد تجهز جيدا ودرس وبحث
واستطاع عرض هذه المعلومات القيمة بطريقة
لا تسبب مللا ولا تنقص من تشويق روايته
بل بالعكس
تؤدي لإثرائها وتميزها عن أي رواية تشويق أخرى

وهذه المرة يبحر بي براون في عالمي المفضل
فدائما المجال العلمي يثير فضولي ومتعتي ورغبتي الدائمة في المعرفة

ومجال الفضاء يستهويني من أمد بعيد
أحب ناسا واكتشافاتها وطاقمها
ودوما أتذكر العظيم كارل سيجن
الذي كان أول من علمني أن العلم أكثر متعة بكثير
من أي فانتازيا خيالية في كتاب حكايات

لذا استمتعت بكل ما كان يتعلق بالنيازك والحفريات ومركبات الفضاء
وهذا الخيال العلمي المتشبث بالواقع
وهذه القدرة العجيبة لدى براون على التلاعب بنا كقراء مرة بعد مرة

أحببت راتشيل ولم أشعر بالخيبة كما توقعت
لأن روبرت شخصيتي الخيالية الجميلة الطيبة
لن يصحبني معه هذه المرة في محاولته لحل الألغاز

صحيح أن هناك شيء كبير مفقود بغيابه
إلا ان براون نجح في دمج عنصرا الخيال والتشويق
وقدم لنا مرة اخرى رواية محفزة للخيال مليئة بالمعلومات المبهرة

ملحوظة
ألا تشعر أن دان براون احيانا يصنع رواياته وكأنه سيناريو لفيلم سينمائي؟
لأنني في هذه الرواية بالذات لم انفك أشعر بذلك
وبقوة

ليس كل ما يلمع ذهبا ، قاعدة تستنتجها من روايات دان براون ، إن ذالك الشخص الذي يبدو من الوهلة الأولى منبع للأمانة و الوفاء يصدمك في النهاية فتستنج أنه هو مصدر كل تلك المتاعب و الآلام التي عشتها .
حرب سياسية في أوج إحتدامها أبطالها وكالة ناسا الفضائية ، البيت الأبيض ، مكتب الإستطلاع القومي وسيناتور أمريكي يضرم حرب إنتخابية متأججة للإطاحة بالرئيس الحالي للبلاد .
حملة إنتخابية مبنية على اخفاقات وكالة ناسا الفضائية المتتالية و إستنزافها لموارد مالية ضخمة من الدولة والتي مصدرها ضرائب المواطنين البسطاء .
تم ترويض الرأي العام بنجاح ، السيناتور في طريقه نحو البيت الأبيض، الرئيس الأمريكي الحالي في مأزق ووكالة ناسا في طريقها نحو الخوصصة .
يستفيق العالم باكتشاف من ناسا يسحب البساط من تحت قدمي السيناتور ، صخرة نيزكية مدفونة في قلب القطب الشمالي المتجمد مليئة بمستحتات حشرة قادمة من الفضاء الخارجي والتي تؤكد قطعا فرضية وجود حياة خارج هذا الكوكب .
لكن على عكس ماهو متوقع يرفع مجموعة من العلماء المدنين رفقة عميلة بمكتب الإستطلاع القومي و بعد سلسلة من التجارب العلمية ، الستار على أعظم مكيدة و خدعة حيكت بعناية عن الصخرة النيزكية وتورط رجال دولة ذات مكانة مرموقة فيها .
لتنطلق فيما بعد و كعادة دان براون رحلة البحث عن الحقيقة الضائعة على طول يوم كامل .
رحلة مليئة بتصفيات ، فخاخ ومحاولات إغتيال كل من حاول كشف حقيقة الصخرة .

نسبتا روان و جالب بود ولی یک جاهایی اش زیادی خیالی بود.مثلا این که رئیس جمهور آمریکا انگار کاری جز رسیدگی به ناسا و سرنوشت سه تا غیرنظامی نداشت!!و هی اتفاقی جان به دربردن های شخصیت های اصلی داستان منطق روایی نداشتند ولی خب در این سبک کتاب ها عنصر اتفاق نقش پررنگی دارد.
آخرهای داستان یک غافلگیری خیلی جالب داشت هرچند آن هم خیلی منطقی نبود ولی واقعا آدم را حیرت زده می کرد.
پرداخت خوبی داشت ولی شخصیت پردازی ها ضعیف بودند.
به عنوان سرگرمی کتاب خوبی بود و ترجمه ی روانی هم داشت.

In this work, Dan Brown made the book more interesting because he kept a light on a different direction. Our world is already ruled in the shadow of political games. The realities know they can only read between the lines.

As a stand-alone Dan Brown book this one was interesting and did hold its own against Robert Langdon and his never ending series. 3.5 stars rounded down.

A NASA discovery sets off a chain of events that rapidly spirals out of control.

The book has a lot of technical jargon that made me switch off a little in the middle as my brain felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of it. The chapters are also set from different perspectives; this was enjoyable but sometimes chapters were a page long and the book seemed to be a bit haphazard at times.

Overall this was an enjoyable read, the twist at the end I never guessed.. I was vilifying completely the wrong character! The end really saved the book in my opinion as all the ulterior motives came out that were so nuanced before you barely noticed.
