I truly enjoy reading Madeleine L'Engle's journals.

Her writing is filled with some fascinating insights that have the power to captivate your attention from the very beginning.

However, it must be said that there was a particular segment within the book that took me a little longer to get through.

This part consisted of a significant amount of family history, and I found it rather challenging to establish a connection between this historical information and the story she was intricately weaving about her mother.

Maybe other readers are not as slow or dense as I was in this regard, but that was indeed my personal experience.

Nonetheless, when considering the book as a whole, it was still a good read that offered many valuable and thought-provoking moments.

Despite the small hiccup with the family history section, I would still recommend Madeleine L'Engle's journals to others who are interested in exploring the inner thoughts and experiences of a talented writer.

3.5 out of 5 stars

This book is not quite as enjoyable as the first Crosswicks book.

The family reminiscing in it got a bit tiresome for me after a while. However, it is still a really great read.

I have to admit that I'm starting to get a bit annoyed by Madeleine L'Engle's struggle to simply believe.

There are certain things that she wants to believe, but for some reason, she just can't, at least not all the time.

I find myself wondering: Is she perhaps just more honest than the rest of us? Maybe she is bravely facing her doubts and uncertainties, while the rest of us might try to hide or ignore ours.

Despite my slight annoyance, I still appreciate her writing and the insights she offers.

The story is engaging and thought-provoking, and it makes me reflect on my own beliefs and experiences.

Overall, I would recommend this book to others, especially those who enjoyed the first Crosswicks book and are interested in exploring themes of faith, family, and personal growth.

I devoured this book, yet not with the same speed as the first one. This is because it dealt with heavier topics, which required more thought and reflection. Additionally, there were some passages that were interesting, but rather long winded.

Madeline L'Engle remains one of those individuals that I渴望 to sit down with, enjoy a cup of tea, and engage in a good, stimulating conversation about everything under the sun. Her writing has a way of captivating my imagination and making me think about the world in a different light.

I find myself drawn to her characters and their stories, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us in the next book.

Overall, this was a great read, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys thought-provoking literature.

Madeleine L'Engle completely exposes herself in this book.

Rarely does an author dare to be so transparent.

Here is an author grappling with the countless emotions that accompany observing and taking care of a deteriorating parent.

However, she is also someone who is paying a lasting homage not only to her mother but also to her ancestors.

I found the book thought-provoking and insightful, yet it was somewhat disjointed.

It reads like a journal, and that is precisely what gives it its raw and unadulterated honesty.

The way L'Engle lays out her feelings and experiences makes the reader feel as if they are right there with her, sharing in her joys and sorrows.

It is a powerful and moving account that will stay with you long after you have finished reading.

Despite its flaws, this book is a must-read for anyone who has ever dealt with the complex emotions that come with caring for a loved one in decline.
