Reread from my childhood.

It is still such a fun experience.

Recently, I had the opportunity to share this with 3/3 kids, and they absolutely loved it.

Their eyes widened with excitement and curiosity as they delved into the pages.

It was heartwarming to see their faces light up with joy.

The stories and characters from my childhood seemed to have a new life as they were introduced to a new generation.

I could see the kids imagining themselves in the adventures and relating to the emotions of the characters.

It made me realize the power of literature to bring people together across different ages and create lasting memories.

Rereading from my childhood not only brought back my own cherished memories but also gave the kids a taste of something special.

It was truly a wonderful experience that I will always remember.

One day, the fulfiller of wishes came to our town.

He said to me, "Make a wish and I will fulfill it."

I said, "I love a boy who only comes here once a year in the summer. Do something so that he can stay here forever and take root."

After that, the boy turned into a tree.

It was a magical moment.

The tree stood there, as if a silent witness to our story.

Every time I passed by, I would look at it with a special feeling.

Although the boy was no longer in his original form, his presence was still felt.

I believed that this tree would always be there, just like my love for him.

It became a symbol of our connection and a reminder of that wonderful day when my wish came true.

I had an absolute blast revisiting this book that dates back to my childhood.

The concept of the book is truly captivating, and the stories within it are equally enchanting.

While it may lack a certain degree of subtlety, I firmly believe that this isn't always a prerequisite in a children's book.

In fact, its straightforward nature can often make it more accessible and engaging for young readers.

However, I must admit that the regional dialect writing does drive me a little crazy at times.

It can be a bit challenging to fully understand and appreciate, especially for those who are not familiar with the specific dialect.

But despite this minor drawback, I still think it's a really fun book overall.

It brings back so many wonderful memories and continues to charm readers of all ages.

I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted and enjoyable read.

Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Tim. He always wished for more toys, more candies, and more fun. One day, a magical genie appeared and granted him three wishes. Tim was overjoyed and quickly made his first wish for a room full of toys. The genie granted his wish, and Tim was ecstatic. He spent hours playing with his new toys.

However, as time passed, Tim realized that having so many toys was not as great as he thought. He had to clean up the mess every day, and he didn't have enough space to move around. He also noticed that he didn't really enjoy playing with all the toys. Some of them were just sitting there gathering dust.

Tim then made his second wish for an endless supply of candies. The genie granted this wish too, and Tim ate candies all day long. But soon, he started to have toothaches and felt sick to his stomach. He realized that too much of a good thing can be bad for you.

For his third wish, Tim thought long and hard. He finally wished for the ability to make wise decisions. The genie smiled and granted his wish. From that day on, Tim was more careful about what he wished for and always considered the consequences before making a decision. He learned that wish fulfillment can be dangerous if you don't think things through.

This is an extremely cute book that consists of three enchanting tales. I delved into this book as part of my endeavor to read Newbery Medal Award and Nominees, and in the process, discovered this old gem.

Polly, the young girl, longs for other children to notice her. Instead of her own voice, she ends up with a bullfrog's croak.

Rowena, who is deeply in love with Henry, simply desires him to love her back and not leave so often. Through her wish, she manages to make Henry stay.

Finally, Adam wishes for water on the family farm. However, his wish doesn't quite go as planned.

Each character learns a valuable lesson from their respective wishes. And, of course, there must be a way to reverse these wishes that have gone awry.

The bullfrog story brings to mind a scene from The Phantom of the Opera. Perhaps Andrew Lloyd Webber was influenced by this book, which was published three years before Phantom was released.

This book almost earns a 4-star rating.

I truly adored the manner in which the author artfully planted themes within this book for children. It enables them to fathom certain crucial concepts.

For instance, the theme of friendship and discerning who one's true friends are. This is an essential life lesson that children need to learn at an early age.

Another significant theme is how to be kind to others. In today's world, kindness is often overlooked, but it is the key to building healthy relationships and a harmonious society.

Moreover, the book also touches upon the idea that some things we wish for may not always be what we truly desire. This helps children to develop a more realistic and mature perspective on life.

Overall, this book is a great read for children as it not only entertains but also educates them in a fun and engaging way. It is a valuable addition to any child's library.

This book was ranked #99 among the top 100 books challenged between 1990-1999, as per the ALA. The reason for this was its references to witchcraft in Salem and the utilization of magic.

At a town social event, a carnival barker named Thaddeus Blinn sells three children a card with a red spot. He claims that this card will grant them a wish. However, the children don't phrase their wishes carefully, and as a result, they face disastrous consequences. For instance, Polly wishes for people to pay attention to her. But this causes her to croak like a bullfrog whenever she utters vain or mean words about others.

The children then have to search for the fourth buyer, a store owner known as "Stew Meat," and use his wish to reverse their own. Although the magic does cause some harm, it doesn't inflict any irreparable damage. Instead, it is employed for didactic purposes to correct the short-sighted and rude behavior of the children. It serves as a lesson for them to think carefully before making wishes and to be more considerate of their words and actions.

A strange man arrives in town for the annual fair. He proclaims that for just fifty cents each, he can grant wishes.

He manages to sell four wishes, one to each of four different townspeople. And then, just as suddenly as he appeared, he vanishes.

The story then delves into the individual tales of each person and their wish. There's the young boy who wishes for a never-ending supply of his favorite candy. The elderly woman who wishes for better health. The ambitious man who wishes for great wealth. And the kind-hearted girl who wishes for world peace.

As the story progresses, it becomes clear that these wishes are all nicely entwined. The boy's never-ending supply of candy leads to unexpected consequences for the town's economy. The elderly woman's improved health allows her to help others in ways she never could before. The ambitious man's newfound wealth causes him to reevaluate his priorities. And the girl's wish for world peace has a ripple effect that touches the lives of everyone in town.

It's a fun take on the Foolish Wish trope, but while it may not be earth-shattering, it does offer some lighthearted entertainment and a few gentle lessons about the power of wishes.

I ordered a new copy of this for our library.

The reason is that it's on our Honors Reading List. However, our old copy was originally from 1983.

It has a dated cover and older, smaller type, which is not appealing to young readers at all.

It was a quick read, and I found it delightful!

I had no idea what to expect, but I really enjoyed the three tales and how the kids had to learn from their wishes.

The middle one, "The tree man," was my least favorite.

This is because it was quite obvious what was going to happen based on her wish.

On the other hand, the first one, "Jug-a-Rum," was my favorite.

I really liked the small-town country feel and the mystical figure of Thaddeus Blinn.

It's a fun and quick read!

Overall, I'm glad I ordered the new copy for our library so that more students can enjoy this charming book.

A childhood favorite. It was that special book that captured my imagination and held a dear place in my heart during those formative years.

Even as an adult, I find myself drawn back to it time and again. It's not just a book; it's a source of pure entertainment.

The vivid characters, the exciting adventures, and the magical worlds it creates are simply captivating.

It has the power to transport me back to a time when life was simpler and full of wonder.

Reading it now, as an adult, I can appreciate the精妙之处of the story and the skill of the author.

It's a reminder that some things never lose their charm, and that the joy of a good book can last a lifetime.

It's just a damn fun book that I will always cherish.
