Sylvia Plath has had a profound impact on me in the past 48 hours.

She has achieved something that not many other writers can claim to have done before. That is, she has kept me awake until the early hours.

After reading the remarkable collection of poetry in "Ariel," I was once again in awe of her masterful talent.

This body of work truly showcases her genius and leaves me craving for more.

Is she a troubled genius? A tortured soul? Perhaps both are true.

But that doesn't concern me. All that matters is the greatness that emerges whenever she puts pen to paper.

Her words have the power to captivate, inspire, and move me in ways that few others can.

I am eager to explore more of her works and continue to be amazed by her literary prowess.

Departure, all the dead dears, the stones >>> This collection of poems is perhaps a 3.75. The reason being that a considerable number of the poems rely on "scholarly" wording and structure. At times, they seem like a mere jumble of pretty or smart-sounding phrases.

Some of the poems lack a specific purpose and a satisfying conclusion. However, maybe that was the intended point, I don't know.

Plath's focus on the cyclicality of natural death, the invasion of the body by the worldly, and the overall morbid tone is extremely good, though. This aspect makes up for the不足之处 in the collection.

It's interesting to see how Plath explores these themes with such intensity and vividness. Her use of language and imagery creates a powerful and haunting atmosphere that lingers in the reader's mind.

Overall, while the collection may not be perfect, it still has many redeeming qualities that make it worth reading.

A formative and early collection of Plath's works, this volume truly stands out for its unique use of language.

Almost every poem has the power to bring about a sense of delight within the reader. Plath, as is her usual style, discovers increasingly abstract and exquisite new ways to describe what might otherwise be a rudimentary scene.

Although it lacks the emotional and confessional qualities that are so characteristic of her later works, The Colossus still showcases Plath's meticulous and structured poetic strengths. Here, she takes on more traditional subject matter, with just a few exceptions.

Among the many poems in this collection, there are several personal favorites. These include "Winter Ship," which perhaps evokes a sense of mystery and longing on the cold winter sea. "The Medallion" might offer a deeper exploration of some hidden meaning or emotion. And "The Disquieting Muses" could bring a touch of unease or inspiration, depending on how one interprets it.

Overall, this early collection is a fascinating look at the development of Plath's poetic genius.

To be honest, I didn't really understand too many of the poems.

I'm not good at analyzing stanzas. Instead, I mainly create my own interpretation once I read a poem.

Overall, for the poems that I did understand, I reread them several times.

Regardless of my limited understanding, the writing in these poems was truly beautiful.

I certainly wouldn't know how to create such poignant stories within the limited number of phrases.

The poets' ability to convey deep emotions and vivid images in just a few lines is truly remarkable.

It makes me appreciate the art of poetry even more and inspires me to try to improve my own understanding and appreciation of this wonderful form of literature.

Bleak, grim, soul-sucking, and yet brilliant. This is how I would describe the collection of poetry I just picked up. I had initially intended to savor the reading experience, to take my time and truly soak in each word and line. However, I found myself completely engrossed from the very first page, and before I knew it, I had essentially read the entire collection in one sitting.

I am still relatively new to the world of poetry, but this collection really spoke to me. The vivid imagery that the poet creates is truly remarkable. I could picture every scene, every emotion, as if it were playing out right in front of my eyes. The overall themes of the collection also added to its appeal. It delved into the darker aspects of the human experience, exploring themes such as loss, grief, and despair. But despite the bleakness, there was also a glimmer of hope and a sense of beauty that shone through.

Overall, I would highly recommend this collection of poetry to anyone who is looking for a powerful and thought-provoking read. It may not be for the faint of heart, but for those who are willing to take the plunge, it is an experience that will stay with you long after you have turned the last page.

Perhaps you consider yourself an oracle,

Mouthpiece of the dead, or of some god or other.

For thirty years now I have labored,

To dredge the silt from your throat.

Yet I am none the wiser.

Bleak and disturbing, this piece of writing feels like a vivid scene of children curiously poking at dead lizards that lie belly up on the sidewalk after a sweltering summer day. The hard-to-digest diction creates a powerful whirlpool in the mind. The unique word pairings and metaphors are so sticky in my mouth that they leave a lingering pain, much like the discomfort of burning your tongue on hot tea. Sylvia Plath, your works have a strange allure that makes me love you deeply.

Her words seem to have a magical power that draws the reader into a world full of mystery and darkness.

Each line is like a sharp knife, cutting through the surface of our emotions and revealing the hidden truth within.

Plath's poetry is not for the faint of heart, but for those who are brave enough to face the harsh realities of life and explore the depths of the human soul.

The only way I could determine if Plath had brought a poem to an end was when there was a significant amount of blank space following the last line.

And when a poem actually reached the last printable line on an odd-numbered page, it was only upon turning the page that I could discover whether the poem had concluded or not.

One has the option to shift the verses around, retitle them in any old manner, print everything in reverse, or do whatever else comes to mind.

As the "genius-with-word-and-song" Kurt Cobain famously pleaded, "Here we are now, entertain us."

But to Plath, without a doubt, he only wailed "Nevermind."

It's as if Plath had her own unique way of structuring and presenting her poetry, making it a mystery until the very end.

The blank spaces and the need to turn the page added an element of anticipation and surprise.

And while others might play with the form and content in various ways, Plath's approach remained distinct.

Even Kurt Cobain's plea for entertainment seemed to fall on deaf ears when it came to Plath.

Her world of poetry was her own, and she was not easily swayed by the demands or expectations of others.

This collection took an upward turn in the second half.

In the first half, I found it difficult to establish a connection. It was rather odd, given that I was such a big fan of "Ariel" and "The Bell Jar".

I think when considering the context, "Ariel" had a genuine sense of rawness and a burst of creativity that "Colossus" lacked. "Colossus" was too poised, too structured. After reading "Ariel", I felt as if the poems in "Colossus" were confined and not at their fullest potential.

However, this began to change in the second half when I came across several remarkable poems such as "The Ghost's Leavetaking", "Black Rook in Rainy Weather", "A Winter Ship", "Ouija", "Poem for a Birthday" and so on. That's when Plath truly shone through.

Overall, it was a nice collection, but less impressive than "Ariel". I wouldn't revisit this except for the specific poems that I really enjoyed.

Plath is undoubtedly talented, and this collection is by no means bad. It's just that mainly it wasn't for me. Lady Lazarus supremacy.

The original article is not provided, so I can't rewrite and expand it specifically. However, I can give you a general example of how you might expand an article to about 300 words.

Let's assume the original article was something like: "I went to the park today. It was a beautiful day. I saw many people there."

Expanded version:

I went to the park today.

It was an absolutely beautiful day, with the sun shining brightly and a gentle breeze blowing.

The sky was a clear blue, and it seemed as if nature was putting on a wonderful show just for me.

As I walked through the park, I saw many people enjoying the day.

Some were having picnics, others were playing frisbee or flying kites.

There were also families with children running around and laughing.

The park was filled with life and energy, and it made me feel happy and at peace.

I sat on a bench for a while, just taking in the scenery and listening to the sounds of the birds chirping.

It was a truly wonderful experience, and I'm glad I decided to go to the park today.

Okay, I have to admit that I did not enjoy the first quarter of the book. It just didn't seem to grip my attention as much as I had hoped. However, everything changed after that initial part.

The rest of the book was truly spectacular. The story took unexpected turns, and the characters became more and more engaging. I found myself completely immersed in the world that the author had created.

The writing style was also excellent. The author used vivid descriptions and engaging dialogue to bring the story to life. I could easily picture the scenes in my mind and feel as if I was a part of the action.

Overall, while the beginning of the book was a bit of a let-down, the rest more than made up for it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting and engaging read.
