I truly enjoyed all three stories within this remarkable book. Throughout the entire reading experience, I was deeply immersed in a range of emotions.

The first story delved into the profound topic of learning to cope with the loss of a beloved one. It also explored the arduous journey of navigating through the struggles within a marriage. It made me reflect on how we often have to find the strength to persevere through such difficult times.

The second book touched upon the theme of depression and provided some insights into the challenges within a marriage. Additionally, it delved into the importance of telling the truth and the complex world of adoption. This story was not only engaging but also shed light on the often overlooked aspects of foster care.

The third story, like the first, centered around the theme of death. However, it also emphasized the significance of learning to trust in the good. It made me realize that even in the face of such adversity, there is always hope and the possibility of finding something positive. Overall, this book was a captivating read that left a lasting impression on me.

This three-in-one collection is not only heavy in the hands but also weighs on the heart. It features some of Kingsbury's early masterpieces: Where Yesterday Lives, When Joy Came to Stay, and On Every Side. Each story is distinct, yet they all revolve around a common theme of a woman grappling with something from her past.

In Where Yesterday Lives, Ellen Barrett returns to her hometown following the untimely death of her father. There, she must attempt to reestablish a connection with her estranged sister while mourning the loss of the dad she adored. However, I found this book rather dull. It seemed that most of the narrative was a nostalgic journey down memory lane. Additionally, the constant bickering among the siblings became quite tiresome.

When Joy Came to Stay is undoubtedly the gem of the set. Maggie appears to have a perfect life, yet she cannot forget the child she gave up for adoption. Little Amanda Joy, shuffled from one foster care home to another, never loses her faith. I was deeply moved by the raw emotions Maggie experiences throughout her depression, and foster kids, both in fiction and in real life, hold a special place in my heart. This book is a classic example of Kingsbury's writing style: heart-wrenching situations and the unwavering faith to overcome them.

On Every Side presents a conflict between former friends Faith and Jordan as they engage in a battle over a statue of Jesus in a city park. After Jordan and his sister are separated in foster care, Faith loses touch with the boy she once had a crush on. Angry at God for the turn his life has taken, Jordan works feverishly to remove Christ from public view. But when he sees Faith again, he can no longer maintain the barriers, both physically and emotionally. This story is charming, and I appreciate the parallels it draws to the story of Joshua.

This collection makes an ideal gift for loyal Kingsbury fans. However, I must caution that it can become cumbersome to hold after some time.

I received this book in exchange for my review, and all the thoughts expressed here are my own.

Anyone who desires to contend that a Christian author fails to inspire might not hold a favorable view of this review. Throughout each fictional narrative, I found myself highly motivated. The stories had a profound impact on me, making me aspire to become a better individual. I yearned to be more loving and more giving. The inclusion of scripture references within the text served as a significant source of motivation! How I wish the entire world would turn to Heavenly Father and His Son. I firmly believe that if this were to happen, the world would undoubtedly be a far better place. Without a doubt.

Here are three remarkable stories that are bound to inspire. Do you have the courage to explore them? :)

Karen Kingsbury is a highly regarded Christian fiction writer. I have read three of her books and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them.

The stories were not only interesting but also captivating, making it extremely difficult for me to put the books down.

However, there was one drawback. The book was incredibly heavy, especially when considering the fact that it was a collection of three books in one.

This made it a bit cumbersome to hold while reading. In fact, it was much easier for me to rest it on various objects as I was reading.

I particularly like to read in a nice hot bath, but unfortunately, this was a challenge with this heavy book.

Despite this minor inconvenience, I would still highly recommend Karen Kingsbury's books to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction.

Her stories are engaging, her characters are well-developed, and her writing style is truly captivating.

I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

REVIEW:

This book took a considerable amount of time to read as it contains three novels. The author, Karen Kingsbury, has truly crafted a page-turner. In fact, I would say she has written three well-written novels. You'll find yourself unable to wait to turn the page and discover what will happen next.

The first story, "WHERE YESTERDAY LIVES," is about Ellen. Her father's death leads to various problems among the characters, which are easy to understand. Ms. Kingsbury makes you feel as if you know the characters intimately and can sense their emotions. The story features two sisters who almost despise each other. It delves into past issues and thoughts of having affairs. The family not only has to deal with their own problems but also those of others. The ending is sure to leave you with teary eyes.

Novel Two, "WHEN JOY CAME TO STAY," is equally good. Decisions made long ago cause grief and guilt for one woman. She believes her husband is the reason for the choices she made and decides to check into an institution. In response, her husband begins to investigate her past to understand what has made her act this way.

Number Three, "ON EVERY SIDE," is completely different from the first two stories, yet it is still excellent. Bethany has had a statue in the town center for years. Now, they are facing a lawsuit as there is an association that doesn't want religious statues due to the separation of church and state. They love to sue people for such things and so they target Bethany. It seems that a lawyer has some sort of issue with the statue. Ms. Kingsbury weaves the story together with several different characters.

It will take some time to read this book. I would suggest reading one story and then waiting a day or so before starting another. The books will inspire you to live every minute of every day in your faith, regardless of what that faith may be. You will find that the stories have grace and forgiveness. They show how sometimes we take very bad actions and the characters lead real lives that could be similar to ours. Sometimes those who claim to be Christians don't always act as such and fail to make godly decisions. There were fathers in each of the stories who didn't fulfill their role as fathers. They didn't protect their daughters or lead them in the right way. It's truly sad because it is so true in real life. Usually, the same thing happens, and it's never good.

As usual, Karen Kingsbury has done it again, not once but three times. These are good, clean, and honest reads that may make you stop and reflect for a moment. You might even find that a character is a copy of you.

I would give this book 5 STARS.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing for this unbiased review.

Wonderful books

I have truly had an amazing experience with all three books. From the very beginning, they have managed to capture my attention and take me on an emotional rollercoaster. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the humorous parts, smiling with joy at the heartwarming moments, and even shedding a few tears during the more touching scenes. It's truly remarkable how these books have the power to evoke such a wide range of emotions within me.

Karen, the author, has been an absolute blessing to me. Her writing is so engaging and vivid that it makes me feel as if I am right there in the story, experiencing everything along with the characters. I am so grateful to have discovered her books and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

I would highly recommend these books to anyone who is looking for a great read. They are not only entertaining but also have the ability to touch your heart and leave a lasting impression. So, go ahead and give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

As a die-hard fan of Karen Kingsbury, I make it a point to devour everything she pens. The reason is simple - I know her works will always encourage and uplift my spirit. And more often than not, I find myself shedding a few tears along the way. Interestingly, I had already read a couple of the stories in this collection, but that didn't deter me from revisiting them.

"Where Yesterday Lives" is the tale of Ellen Barrett, a highly successful news reporter. Her world is turned upside down when her father suffers a heart attack and passes away, forcing her to embark on a journey back home. Although she isn't eager to return, perhaps this trip will finally heal the rifts and bring her family closer together.

"When Joy Came To Stay" was undoubtedly one of my favorites in the collection. It tells the story of Maggie Stovall, who succumbs to depression, leaving her husband Ben struggling to cope. This story was particularly interesting as it offered a rare glimpse into the devastating effects of depression on a family.

"On Every Side" follows the journey of Faith Evans, who decides to take a stand when the town attempts to tear down a hundred-year-old statue of Jesus.

While these three novels may not be my all-time favorite Karen Kingsbury stories, I still thoroughly enjoyed them. The elements of faith that I have come to expect were present in each story, along with a touch of romance. Overall, this collection lived up to my expectations. If you've never delved into a Kingsbury novel before, you might just want to give this collection a try.
