Great book!

I absolutely loved how the characters and the story were masterfully woven together. Karen Kingsbury has truly outdone herself with this one. The way the plot unfolds and the relationships between the characters develop is simply captivating. It's one of my all-time favorites by this talented author.

Moreover, this book is definitely a tear-jerker. It has the power to tug at your heartstrings and make you feel a whole range of emotions. From joy and happiness to sadness and heartbreak, it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. The depth and authenticity of the characters make you truly invested in their lives and their fates.

If you're looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you with a lasting impression, then this is the one for you. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good story filled with love, drama, and emotion.

I have never read a Kingsbury book, as far as I can remember. In fact, after reading the first few chapters, I almost gave up. I thought it would be a typical Christian romance, with the girl meeting the guy and that's it. However, the historical Iraq war part of the book managed to keep my interest. It was quite interesting to see both perspectives of the war.

I really think a trigger warning is necessary for this book. Several times, I had to stop reading because it hit too close to home in terms of PTSD triggers and emotional roller coasters. It dealt with the topic of losing people close to you in tragic accidents, which can be very sensitive for some readers.

During the reading, I also experienced various emotions. There were times when I was angry because the portrayal of grief seemed incorrect. There were moments of boredom, and there were a few areas where the writing was so poor that I was confused about which characters the author was referring to due to the skimpy introductions. Overall, I just got tired of the drama and emotions in the book.

On a positive note, I do believe that it is a good portrayal of how soldiers are heroes to people of all ages, statuses, and races, and the many ways they serve. It gives us a glimpse into their lives and sacrifices.

P.S. The ending was ridiculously predictable and way too abrupt. It felt like the author just wanted to wrap things up quickly without giving it the proper attention and closure that the story deserved.

In this review, there really isn't an abundance of details I can disclose without spoiling the story. In fact, it's quite possible that you might be able to anticipate what occurs even before delving into the book or right at the start. Nevertheless, I am completely overwhelmed by the profound emotional impact this book had on me. It is a fictional work, yet it bears a striking resemblance to the lives of many individuals. This aspect alone leaves me in awe. Moreover, it elucidates how a single life can have a significant and far-reaching impact on numerous others, creating a rippling effect.

This book truly compels you to reflect upon life (at least it had that consequence for me). I am cognizant that many may not necessarily concur with various aspects of this novel, especially those pertaining to politics, the military, and religion. However, I earnestly hope that they will grasp the central message of this work. This novel is exquisitely written, rich in meaning, and of the utmost importance. It will undoubtedly be one that I will never forget and continues to萦绕 in my thoughts even now that I have completed it.

So, arm yourself with some tissues and by all means, read this book.

Lauren, Shane, Emily, and Justin - yet another heart-wrenching story.

But in this, Shane and Lauren tie the knot. In this touching sequel to "Even Now", Emily Anderson, now twenty years old, is pursuing her college education on a soccer scholarship when she crosses paths with the man who will alter her life completely: Army reservist Justin Baker. Their gentle relationship, built upon a shared faith in God and nourished by their trust and love for one another, becomes a brilliant source of inspiration for everyone they encounter, especially for Emily's reunited birth parents, Lauren Gibbs and Shane Galanter.

Lauren and Shane still grapple with trying to overcome their divergent beliefs regarding war, politics, and faith. Shane is of the opinion that it's feasible; Lauren, however, disagrees. As a result, she bids a painful farewell to her long-ago love and heads back to her job as a war correspondent in Afghanistan. Both Lauren and Shane are left devastated, convinced that this time their relationship has truly come to an end forever.

Then, a tragedy sends shockwaves throughout all of their lives. Will Lauren and Shane be able to put aside their opposing views so that love - God's love - might prevail, regardless of the seemingly insurmountable odds?

Karen has done an outstanding job with her research, especially when it comes to the war in Iraq. The details she presents make the story come alive and at times, it is truly heart wrenching.

This book presented a challenge for me due to the liberal politics of a particular character and a belief regarding Christianity that appeared to be at odds with the Bible.

The concerning perspective, which I encounter far too frequently in Christian fiction nowadays, is the idea that, since God is love and Jesus brought peace, war is never the "Christian" thing to do. However, throughout the entire Bible, war has served as a means by which God has drawn His people closer to Himself and towards their Promised Land, as well as a way to punish the wicked for their rebellion against Him. This is especially evident in the Old Testament, where it often pertained to those who worshipped pagan or foreign gods. God is a "jealous God" (Exodus 20:5) who commanded the Israelites not to make carved images to bow down to or worship. It is also stated a few verses earlier that "you shall have no other god before Me [Yahweh/God]" (verse 3). War is a prominent theme in both the Old and New Testaments (see Joshua 5:13-6:27, Judges 4-5, Ephesians 6:10-20 [spiritual warfare]), and it is predicted in Revelation to reach its climax in the Battle of Armageddon (with Jesus leading the Godly army) in the End Times (Revelation 16-19). As Ecclesiastes 3 tells us, there is "a time of war," both now and in the future. In fact, Jesus Himself said in Matthew 10:34, "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword." He brings peace to the soul of man through salvation, but He came to earth to teach us to repent from our sins so that He may save as many souls as are willing, reuniting the repentant with God Almighty and enabling us to live with Him for all eternity. He also came with spiritual warfare, as Paul mentioned, to conquer spiritual death and make eternal life with God possible.

God is indeed a God of peace and love, but He is also a God of war and justice. He is complex, which is why we have the entire Bible rather than just one or two of its books, allowing us to learn more about the different aspects of God's nature.

Beyond these concerns, there were aspects of "Ever After" that I truly enjoyed. I liked Emily's journey and how things didn't always unfold as she planned, yet beautiful and heartrending events took place. I found myself shedding buckets of tears through the last several chapters that focused on her, as the content was so emotionally moving for me. I particularly admired her charity work, which was both admirable and encouraging. This was actually my favorite aspect of the story.

I also appreciated that Lauren came to realize that there might be more to the stories she was pursuing in her war correspondence work. It is wonderful to see characters delve deeper and seek the real truth rather than just the surface "truth" that is often the first thing noticed. This was a great redemption for this difficult-to-love character.

The patriotism woven through Emily's, Shane's, and Justin's storylines was truly beautiful. I have always been proud to be an American, and it was enjoyable to see that these characters felt the same way and did their best to uphold America's principles, which are founded on Biblical principles. We need much more of this in our world today.

Content: one expletive.

Ever After love lost book 2

This remarkable book, "Ever After love lost book 2", is truly a captivating read. It has a hold on the reader that makes it extremely difficult to put down. The story is so powerful and emotional that it made me shed a significant number of tears. Moreover, it offers a profound and enhanced understanding of war. It vividly portrays that in the midst of all the chaos and destruction, there are still those wonderful and kind-hearted people who deeply care about this country and the freedom that should be enjoyed by all. It is a book that not only tugs at the heartstrings but also makes one reflect on the important values of patriotism and the pursuit of freedom. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. This book had quite a lot of war and such, not necessarily my favorite.

However, I really whined a lot when I read this, so it's really a very engaging book. So yes, it's a recommendation. But I liked part 1 better.

And I love the fact that it's Christian!!!

Overall, despite not being my absolute favorite genre due to the war content, this book managed to draw me in and make me feel emotional. The story had its moments that kept me hooked, especially in part 1. The Christian aspect added an interesting layer to the narrative and made it stand out in a way. It's not a book for everyone, but if you're looking for something that combines elements of war, emotion, and a touch of faith, it might be worth giving a try.

A significant number of the reviews asserted that it appeared to be propaganda for the war. However, I am perusing this book over 20 years subsequent to 9/11, and thus, it does not strike me as propaganda. Instead, it seems more akin to "historical fiction." It vividly depicts what truly transpired to real individuals, and I relished that particular aspect of it. Nevertheless, some of the points of view were somewhat haphazard, and I disliked the fact that Lauren was the sole one not permitted to have an opinion. But on the whole, it encompassed all the emotions characteristic of a clean Christian romance novel!
