I chose to read this book as I had heard its old tale previously.

First, I did a book walk and was truly amazed by all the beautiful illustrations throughout the book. The vivid colors and the creative drawings of the animals and the forest are sure to capture children's attention.

The other day, I sat down to read it with a few kindergarten students. However, as I was reading, I couldn't help but feel frustrated. The story is written in such a unique way that it was difficult for those students, and even for me, to follow along. I believe the vocabulary is more suitable for a fifth grade class, if that. There is an abundance of slang in this book, such as "brethren," "reckon," "fricasseed," and many more! It was not an easy read.

The kindergarten students I was reading to seemed to enjoy the rising action of the story. When Brer Fox had enough of Brer Rabbit's sass and decided to trick him, this part had them asking me questions about sass. Even though it was hard for them to understand, they had a few laughs at what Brer Fox did with a tar baby. They also liked the climax, where Brer Rabbit was too smart for Brer Fox and tricked him into throwing him into the briar patch.

However, the part of this tale that I didn't like was all the violence incorporated into it. Brer Rabbit tells Brer Fox that he can drown him, fling him, hang him, put him on fire, skin him, etc. I was cringing as I read that part to the kindergarten students. In fact, I found myself skipping some of the words.

Overall, I don't envision using this book in my classroom anytime soon. If I had to use it, I would utilize it to teach my students all the difficult vocabulary in it and to have them look at the illustrations. This tale is a classic, but it is not appropriate for young children.

The cunning fox exerted all his efforts to catch the rabbit.

However, no matter what tricks the fox tried, the rabbit always outwitted him.

This fascinating book holds great value as it imparts the wisdom of using one's cleverness to find solutions to problems and navigate through unfavorable situations.

It also teaches us that when facing enemies who are bothering us, we should outwit them.

It was a truly enjoyable tale that I had never come across before, and it conveys an important lesson of never giving up.

We can learn from the rabbit's example and always be ready to use our intelligence to overcome difficulties and challenges in life.

Whether it's in a game of wits or in real-life situations, the ability to think creatively and outsmart others can give us an edge and help us achieve our goals.

So, let's embrace the teachings of this book and always strive to be clever and resourceful.

The format and wording of this article were truly awkward and not good at all.

In fact, I could not even read half of it because the words were all jumbled up and messed around. It was quite obvious that it was not formatted properly for the Kindle, which was a huge letdown.

I had such high hopes for this story as I used to love it dearly when I was a kid. However, the way it was presented this time really disappointed me. I was looking forward to reliving those wonderful memories, but instead, I was met with a chaotic and unreadable mess.

It's a shame that such a great story was ruined by the poor formatting and awkward language. I hope that in the future, the publishers will take more care in presenting their works to ensure that readers can fully enjoy the stories they love.

I must admit that I am completely biased in this regard. I have a deep affection for this from my childhood. :)

When I was a child, this particular thing held a special place in my heart. It was something that brought me joy, excitement, and a sense of wonder.

I don't remember any of the other stories Harris wrote in any detail. However, this one really sticks in my mind.

As with so much else in our cultural landscape, we can perhaps blame Disney.

Disney has had such a huge influence on our perception of stories and characters. Maybe it's because this story by Harris has some elements that resonate with the kind of magic and charm that Disney is known for.

Or perhaps it's just a coincidence that this story stands out, and my mind has latched onto it for some unknown reason.

Whatever the case may be, it's clear that this story has made a lasting impression on me, and I'm sure it will continue to do so for a long time to come.

We were truly overwhelmed by the vast amount of vocabulary in this text.

It was pretty difficult to read, especially for those who are not well-versed in such extensive language.

However, the illustrations were very okay. They did add a certain visual element to the story.

But overall, this is a classic story that has been poorly adapted for kids.

Perhaps a more simplified version with age-appropriate language and more engaging illustrations would have been a better choice to introduce this classic to the younger generation.

It's a pity that such a great story has been presented in a way that doesn't do justice to its charm and significance for children.

This book was extremely cleverly put together.

The story within it is about a fox and a rabbit that are highly competitive and sassy towards each other.

The fox uses his wits to trick the rabbit into getting stuck in a container of tar.

However, the rabbit is not one to be outdone and manages to trick the fox into unexpectedly letting him go.

This book would be truly excellent for teaching a valuable lesson on trickery. It shows how both the fox and the rabbit use their cunning to try to outwit each other.

Readers can learn from this story about the consequences of being too clever and the importance of thinking before acting.

It also highlights the idea that sometimes, even those who seem to have the upper hand can be tricked in return.

Overall, this book is not only entertaining but also educational, making it a great choice for readers of all ages.

This book presents an interesting tale about the relationship between Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox. They simply do not get along.

The story takes an interesting turn when Brer Fox comes up with a devious plan. He creates a tar baby.

Unfortunately for Brer Rabbit, he gets stuck in the tar baby. But Brer Rabbit is a clever creature. He uses reverse psychology to his advantage.

He begs Brer Fox not to do certain things, knowing that Brer Fox will do exactly the opposite. And this clever strategy pays off as Brer Fox ends up freeing him.

It's a fascinating story that showcases the wits and cunning of both characters.

This is a story about a fox and a rabbit that didn't get along well.

The rabbit was much cleverer than the fox. Eventually, the fox managed to trap the rabbit in a bunch of tar.

When the rabbit was attempting to persuade the fox to release him, he continuously told the fox that he would rather go to this pasture than be drowned or tortured in other ways.

The fox, not being very intelligent, fell for the rabbit's words and let him go to the pasture.

However, as soon as the rabbit reached the pasture, he simply hopped away from the fox.

I personally didn't find this story extremely interesting. But, there might always be that one particular student who would take a liking to it.

Maybe for that student, the idea of the clever rabbit outwitting the fox would be captivating.

Or perhaps the description of the different situations the rabbit could have faced would spark their imagination.

Even though it didn't appeal to me, it's important to remember that everyone has different tastes in stories.

This is a Grammy-award nominated story that is masterfully crafted by the talented folks at Rabbit Ears.

Danny Glover's raspy yet calming narration, along with Taj Mahal's solo guitar music, beautifully complements the tale of those two mischievous tricksters, Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox.

Danny Glover does an outstanding job of narrating this story. He provides various inflections throughout, going deep when he portrays Brer Fox and using a high-pitched tone for Brer Rabbit. His narration is both calm and energetic, making it a pleasure to listen to. Taj Mahal's solo guitar music is excellent as well. The music perfectly matches the story's calm mood and its southern roots.

However, while I found nothing inappropriate about the story itself, I did feel that Henrik Drescher's illustrations were a bit off-putting. Given that the mood of the story is calm and sweet, Drescher's illustrations are rather wild and blunt. They often draw attention away from the main narrative. For example, the contraption in the story looks like a black jug with wobbly legs attached, rather than an actual person as is typically seen in other versions of this tale.

Overall, this is still a great story that fans of Brer Rabbit will surely appreciate. Danny Glover and Taj Mahal make a wonderful team in bringing the southern theme to life. Nevertheless, the illustrations may need some improvement to better match the mood of the story.

I was not impressed by this traditional story.

It is the tale of a fox and a rabbit. The cunning fox has a greedy desire to eat the rabbit. He devises a plan and traps the rabbit in a tar. However, the rabbit is extremely quick-witted and manages to free itself in no time.

Overall, this book does not seem like one that would hold the interest of younger children. The story lacks the excitement and charm that usually attracts the little ones. It may seem rather simplistic and unengaging to them. There are no real twists or turns in the plot to keep them on the edge of their seats.

Perhaps a more vibrant and imaginative retelling of this traditional story could make it more appealing to younger audiences.
